wordless wednesday: Wordless Wednesday (almost!): Eye candy! - 05/18/11 01:35 AM
Wordless Wednesday (almost!): Eye candy!

Peppermint sticks, salt water taffy and tangy hard candy. This is what comes to mind when I think of these whimsically colored roses. It appears that Mother Nature hand-painted each one when she designed these vibrant southern Utah blooms!

These attention-getters are not shy whatsoever, visually reaching out to all admirers.

I'm taken in by their beauty! How about you?
Happy Wednesday to you all!

Wordless Wednesday (almost!): Eye made you blink!
It's a game we play, Ashley and I!
I've looked into those vivid green eyes several thousand times, each time astonished with their beauty. Does she know that? Most likely not. Her needs and demands are simple:
Be our #1 outdoor kitty Full body rub including tummy Catnip when she's feeling frisky Fresh food & water daily in dish Tasty treats / tuna on special occasions All she has to do is give me that look and eye give in to her special demands! Did you blink? Eye bet you did!

wordless wednesday: Wordless Wednesday (almost!): OPEN to the public! - 04/27/11 01:43 AM
Wordless Wednesday (almost!): OPEN to the public!

No fee required to view this gorgeous display. This yearly Spring event will last a short while and only those who attend will catch a glimpse of this timeless exhibit. Mother Nature has provided the means, now all she asks for is the full appreciation of her beauty.
I can definitely manage that and give thanks in her honor! Happy Wednesday!

Wordless Wednesday (almost!): Tastes like Spring!

As Diana runs and runs around the dog park, she makes good use of her dog senses, every one of them on high alert.
Every Sound brings her to a new direction. She is excited to Touch green grass again. The Sight of the birds and flowers ignite her. Smell here, there and everywhere. And her Taste buds are alive!
She says it Tastes like Spring! Happy Wednesday to you all!

wordless wednesday: Wordless Wednesday (almost!): Babe! - 04/13/11 01:38 AM
Wordless Wednesday (almost!): Babe!

While visiting the Cannon Ranch on the outskirts of St. George, Utah some animals were both curious and friendly, especially this pig who reminded me of the little one who played in the movie Babe. He would run to the farthest part of the pen and come hauling full speed back to me and stop right before the bars in front of me. He was adorable and I was simply entertained by his spunky behavior!
If his snout had been cleaner, I might have even kissed him. Uh, maybe not but it was a passing thought!
Happy Wednesday all!

Wordless Wednesday (almost!): Blushing!

Nature's visual appeal often pulls one in with its colorful influence. These pink flowers are a reminder that Easter is just around the corner. And with Spring brings pastel yellows, blues, greens and purples in full bloom, mirroring the natural southern Utah landscapes!

This small arrangement is blushing! Happy Wednesday everyone!

wordless wednesday: Wordless Wednesday (almost!): Cloud play! - 03/23/11 01:54 AM
Wordless Wednesday (almost!): Cloud play!

While watching thick clouds quickly roil in just above the red rock butte in Ivins, Utah, an arm appears to be throwing a puff ball overhand to another part of the sky. Aha! That must be how these continuing clouds move on so hurriedly while heading to other parts of the vast beyond.
Just goes to show what little I know about the power behind Mother Nature's processes. I always thought the wind hastened their retreat across the blue!

wordless wednesday: Wordless Wednesday (almost!): Purple passion! - 03/09/11 12:55 AM
 Wordless Wednesday (almost!): Purple passion!

This is anything but your typical, everyday sunset of yellows, fiery reds and vibrant oranges, this is a one-of-a-kind ending to another beautiful day. After a layer of snow blanketed the area, the southern Utah sky took on lavender tones fused with purple and ochre to create this spectacular show.
I hope this is nature's way of hinting that Spring is near.

Wordless Wednesday (almost!): "Earth laughs in flowers"~ Ralph Waldo Emerson

My grin began to widen as I continued through the roundabout on Main Street to see these fluffy buds bursting out all over this fruitless plum tree. Who am I to doubt these brave pioneers as they spring to life, bringing subtle beauty and color to every passerby?
And if Ralph Waldo Emerson is correct, this tree is a symphony of happiness, spreading good cheer to those who take notice! Happy Wednesday to you all!

wordless wednesday: Wordless Wednesday (almost!): Twice as refreshing! - 02/16/11 12:46 AM
Wordless Wednesday (almost!): Twice as refreshing!

Waterfalls create a visual softscape that draws one in, putting the mind at ease with its sound and repetitive motion. The key to a successful water feature is to make it look as natural as possible, keeping in harmony with surrounding plant material and ground surfaces.
One is a beautiful addition to any landscape but 2 is twice as refreshing! Ahhhh!
...........................
Southern Utah has a most beautiful backdrop that enhances the many water features that dot the landscapes of many communities and commercial businesses.

wordless wednesday: Wordless Wednesday (almost): Glad to be here...rather than there! - 02/09/11 01:06 AM
Wordless Wednesday (almost): Glad to be here...rather than there!

While massive clouds began settling over Pine Valley Mountain range, the rest of the southern Utah valley was completely unaware of the turbulent snow storm raging within its peaks and summits. Over here, we were blessed with sunshine and nothing but sunshine! Temperatures were a little cool but am glad to be here...rather than there!
Happy Wednesday to you all!

Wordless Wednesday (almost!): FOREver views!

Cool temperatures coupled with a brisk wind did little to stop golfers at the Sky Mountain Golf Course from showing up in force to play 18 holes. BeFORE leaving, I couldn't resist taking a photo of the course from inside the community clubhouse, with its amazing views!
Golfing year 'round here in southern Utah is on the FOREfront of many enthusiasts minds! FORE-tunately for us the mild winters allow for many outdoor activities throughout all the four seasons!
Enjoy your Wednesday!

wordless wednesday: Wordless Wednesday (almost!): Pure reflection - 01/26/11 12:41 AM
Wordless Wednesday (almost!): Pure reflection

Ever question why people say that a bad day of fishing is better than a good day at work? After an exceptional day on the lake with anchors set, calm waters lazily lapping at the hull, the sun peeking through tufts of clouds, the azure sky, you'll wonder no more...
Pure reflection at its best.

One of our favorite fishing spots is at Panguitch Lake where this photo was taken and if you'd like more information on this beautiful southern Utah recreational area, go to:

wordless wednesday: Wordless Wednesday(almost!): Passing thoughts... - 01/19/11 01:17 AM

F-16 bomber? Commercial Jet? Those were the first two thoughts that quickly entered my mind as I saw one particular cloud rushing by as the sun began it's quick descent for the day. And then it came to me...it's a FISH and it's a B-I-G  O-N-E!
I always look forward to grabbing the poles with my family, heading to a lake, any lake, reservoir, pond, body of water, to cast the line into the water, relax and enjoy the day...hmmm...I must put that on my list of Things To Do!
Happy Wednesday to you all!

Wordless Wednesday (almost!): You've been desserted!

Not deserted! Desserted! And Everyone deserves dessert! At a recent lunch, a 3-tiered chocolate tower stood there in all its glory spilling continuous sheets of silky milk chocolate over the top...is your mouth watering yet? What you see before you is chocolate covered:
Bananas Pineapple Pretzels Honeydew Melon Cantaloupe Strawberries Mini Scones Orange Slices Angel Food Cake You could dip cardboard in chocolate and make it edible! Not a drop of this delicious, chocolate was wasted as I thoroughly cleaned my plate!
What is your favorite chocolate dipped treat? Mine are strawberries.

Wordless Wednesday (almost!): Don't run with icicles in your mouth!

As temperatures continued to drop and several more inches of snow fell over the New Year holiday, we woke up to 2 frozen pipes and thanks to my husband's quick thinking, kept them from bursting.
As I took a walk outside, I noticed the icicles hanging from the eave of the house and the first thing that came to mind was Popsicles!
As kids, we'd break them off, suck on them, pretending they were a delicious treat! Ha-ha! Good thing mom didn't know about this!

Wordless Wednesday (almost!): Hey! Who turned out the lights?!

This time of year can bring many wonderful winter adventures and special memories of family fun! Unfortunately another situation that may occur is power failure. Be prepared! Be sure to place flashlights, matches and candles in easy-to-find locations (for you, not the little ones) to ensure you are able to move around your home without causing any bodily damage at night.

Call the utility company and get a time-line of repair or when power will be restored. Of course, if you're the cat, no worries!

Wordless Wednesday (almost!): Vroom Vroom!

Even Santa knows why a dog sticks his head out of a car window. Vroom Vroom! This decorative wreath is a perfect gift for the bike enthusiast who enjoys heading on down the highway at breakneck speed, the wind whipping through his beard!
There's also a special place for Mrs. Clause on the back! Vroom Vroom ya'll!

Wordless Wednesday (almost!): Who, you say? Why Horton of course!

One of my favorite displays at the Jubilee of Trees Celebration this year was a Horton Hears A Who set of trees with Horton climbing to the very top, while gently grasping a pink flower in his trunk. Whimsical comes to mind when looking at this elaborate, fun-filled scene! Horton attracted everyone of all ages for a closer look...myself included!

A little history...
Since 1981, the Jubilee of Trees has raised more than $2 million dollars for neonatal healthcare for babies as well as mothers-to-be and also to fund the Life Flight helicopter at Dixie Regional Medical Center in St. George, … (14 comments)
