I recently posted a series of Blogs about politics and the candidates running in the National Elections in November this year.
A fellow ActiveRainer commented, saying "No more politics".
On the one hand, we're all exhausted by the constant barrage of political news, advertisements, arguements and debates - and we want to take a few steps back and close out eyes and ears to all the dissent and animosity.

power: When will Iraq start paying for its own reconstruction? - 08/06/08 10:10 AM
Today CNN reported that Iraq is making windfall profits because of the high price of oil.
"Iraq is raking in more money from oil exports than it is spending, amassing a projected four-year budget surplus of up to $80 billion" U.S. auditors reported, according to CNN.
If Iraq is in fact making these huge profits, why aren't these profits being used to fund their own reconstruction program? And weren't we told by the Bush Administration that the war would be paid for by Iraq with it's own oil profits? Legendary oil tycoon T. Boone Pickens promoting his new cause - using American wind to alleviate the nation's energy crisis and wean itself from dependency on foreign oil.
Pickens' plan calls for investing in enough wind turbines to provide 20% of the nation's energy and reducing oil imports by a third in 10 years.
This initiative requires the immediate extension of federal production tax credits to encourage strategic long-term investments to bring large amounts of wind power from windy areas to population centers."
