zillow: On CNBC discussing housing and Zillow - 01/16/12 07:49 AM

This is my interview on CNBC last week. It was fun to do the interview from the floor of the Nasdaq.
One note – if you pay careful attention, you’ll see that the stat on the screen says “36 homes viewed per second” on mobile, but I say 50 homes per second in the piece. The 50 homes stat is what we're trending at for January; the 36 per second stat is from December.

I keep a close eye on what people tweet about Zillow. It's an unbelievably valuable way for an executive to keep tabs on what people are saying about your company. And it's addicting.
Usually, we're fortunate that most tweets about Zillow are positive - either consumers or agents are raving about our website or mobile apps, or agents are using Zillow to promote their business.

zillow: Zillow proud to win a Webby for best real estate site - 06/16/10 10:17 AM

Zillow was very proud to win a Webby Award for Best Real Estate site this week, and Justin Scott picked up the award with style. The Webbys has a very strict 5-word max acceptance speech policy, which Justin adhered to quite well.
In addition to enjoying Justin's 5 word speech, I liked the intro monologue by emcee BJ Novak (producer and actor in The Office).

Here's a fascinating video speech on how to motivate in an organization. It reminds us that people want to work for companies that they feel are contributing to a higher purpose, rather than just maximizing profit. At Zillow, we strive to provide homeowners, buyers, sellers an agents with "an edge in real estate". It's an important goal, and trying to provide transparency to one of the largest parts of our economies is indeed motivating and challenging.
The video is also fascinating for its effectiveness as a story-telling technique. I love the artist's simultaneous telling of the story with the whiteboard. What … (2 comments)

I'm really looking forward to Thursday's Raincampin Bellingham, WA. This will be my second Raincamp. I wasn't fully prepared for the storm of information covered in the first one I attended 6 months ago in New York, but this time I'll be ready!
