bluffton: First Look - The HGTV Dream/Green Home in Bluffton - 08/23/07 11:57 AM
I feel I'm the investigative reporter...  If you've been following the hush hush thread about the HGTV Dream/Green Home, you'll know there is a lot of secrecy about the actual home and location.  Well, after some prodding, prying and Geraldo Rivera-like thinking (sans the vault thing), I offer a few recent photos of the well guarded structure in Bluffton.
There has been local talk about the "green" home being build in Palmetto Bluff.   Until recently, I thought the home was being built by a private individual with a wonderful sense for the environment - something very important to the local mind set.  But after visiting the HGTV blog and website, I … (4 comments)

bluffton: Myrtle Island listings - Bluffton, SC - 05/17/07 12:17 AM
Myrtle Island is a hidden gem of fabulous river views, eclectic estate-sized homes mingled with vacation cottages and a unmatched Lowcountry charm.
Words and photos hardly do justice to the pristine views Myrtle Island offers.  A single road provides access to this small island situated halfway between Old Town Bluffton and the popular boating area known as All Joy Landing.  Private and serine are the most appropriate words to describe Myrtle Island.  Much of the property has been owned by the same families for over a century and has been past down threw the generations.  Just recently has Myrtle Island gained outside popularity and the values placed on the homes and lots reflect … (0 comments)

bluffton: Bluffton area schools - Part 1 - The Current Status - 05/16/07 02:09 AM
First, let me say this is one issue most real estate agents wish to brush under the rug when the topic arises.  However, there is simply no denying the fact that there needs to be improvement within the local area's public school system.  The two issues of the greatest concern for the Bluffton area schools are the relatively low PACT test scores and overcrowding.  The good news is there are steps being taken to both raise test scores and to reduce the overcrowding in hopes of making the area schools some of the best in the state.
Second, any parent knows good education starts at home.  The local schools currently provide … (0 comments)

bluffton: Web 2.0 for the contemporary real estate agent - 05/15/07 10:29 AM
I'll admit, the topic of Web 2.0 maybe should have been one of my first posts.  The BlufftonSCrealestateblog was the first of its kind in my area and it possibly could have used the same sort of explanation for readers that I offer to the other agents in my area.  With the saturation of over 2000 real estate agents within a population of less than 60,000 I realized I may have had a slight advantage by starting my blog ahead of every one else.  But I felt it would be only a matter of time before every other agent called their web designer to … (0 comments)

bluffton: 10 things I love about Bluffton - 04/23/07 06:59 AM
The ten things I love most about Bluffton, in no particular order:1.    The weather - While a 100 degree scorcher in August is a sizable challenge for my natural curls, a few 70 degree days in January is a fair trade-off.
2.    The local shrimp and oysters - Coming from a culinary background, I feel I have adequate experience to say the area shrimp and oysters rank as some of the best in the world.
3.    The third Friday on Calhoun St. - The third Friday of each month the town closes off the streets and we have a casual block party, of … (1 comments)

bluffton: Bluffton truly is a "State of Mind" - 02/21/07 02:01 AM
"Bluffton, it's a state of mind" is the common phrase and way of life for the residents of our small but growing coastal town just over the bridge from Hilton Head Island.  Bluffton originated as an antebellum retreat for plantation owners who built homes and cottages on the riverbanks of a breezy raised bluff to escape the inland summer heat.  Bluffton has experienced recent growth in popularity, population and actual size through city annexation, yet is still is being referred to by some as "the last true coastal village of the South".
Situated twelve miles west of Hilton Head Island and twenty miles northeast of Savannah, with easy access to … (0 comments)
