The Prince George's County Market appears to be heating up in some areas. Though the total home sales is down slightly from this time last year, there are many fewer homes on the market, and more home under contract. One factor that may contributing to the slightly lower sold homes is the increase in short sales. There were many more short sales (318 vs. 204) and significantly fewer foreclosures (338 vs. 579) that sold in PG County in January & February 2012.

In the early 2000s Maryland instituted programs to discourage tobacco growth. This has left many tobacco barns throughout the region that are no longer being utilized.
I first became fascinated by these tobacco barns when watching my husband play golf on Oak Creek Golf course in Upper Marlboro, MD. The golf course cart path actually runs directly through one of these historic structures.

The family and I went to see the Gingerbread House Contest in Upper Marlboro yesterday. As usual the entries are amazing. One of the rules is that all ingredients must be edible. My kids were impressed with the creative uses for candy, chocolate, and crackers.
This one was a winner in the child's category.
As avid Spongebob watchers this one was my kids' favorite in the child' category.
The adult entries were amazing as well.
This was the first place winner!!!!
