Spring is in the air and the redbuds are blooming at Redbud Park - Now we know why it is called Redbud Park, don't we? The redbuds are also blooming on Sayles Boulevard, a very pretty divided street in Abilene lined with gorgeous older homes. TOASTMASTER FRIENDS!!! Lately, I have had a bit of a blogging block, sounds better than saying MENTAL block. TODAY I found the cure for lifting the fog. I attended Clearly Speaking Toastmasters which meets every Wednesday Noon at the SW United Methodist Church, here in Abilene. Go in the door by the Whataburger. This sunroom was painted a neutral color, the exercise equipment removed, and the wall mounted television removed by the owners. Then the stager added neutral panels to the east windows and a casual style sitting conversation furniture group was arranged on the east side. Opposite this conversation group, a round breakfast table with four chairs was set for casual dining and entertaining. (not shown in this photo)

Abilene High School is getting some bad press lately due to federal and state classification and ratings of academic standards and progress. When all the hype and hysteria slows down, it seems to boil down to that not quite enough Hispanic students made it all the way to high school graduation. Doesn't this smack of singling out a certain ethnicity? In the housing market one can not steer to homes based on ethnicity. But our schools are being evaluated and in the process singling out an ethnicity. AN IDEA CAN PEEK OUT like a prairie dog from it's hole and then disappear into the hole just as quickly. In Rose Park while walking yesterday morning, a sweet little prairie doggie had his nose poked out from a little opening just beside the concrete picnic bench next to the playground. The perky little nose peeked out just an inch or so and that was it. It reminded of a time a person told me that she often had felt like she was peeking out from under a rug in her marriage. If your house is for sale and there is no tub enclosure and there's a shower head over the tub, an inexpensive staging trick is to update your shower curtain and rod and and don't forget the curtain rings. My favorite stores in Abilene for shower curtains are Target, KMart, or Family Dollar. They are my favorites because they are the only places I have bought shower curtains. Walmart has shower curtains, but mainly I just buy shower rods from them. It's officially summer in Abilene, because it's hot. Surprisingly, we have had rain recently and also that also means muggy. Today, I walked three miles at Rose Park and was surprisingly cool albeit by 8:30 a.m, the sun was starting to bear down. Rose Park is home of a skate park, adjacent to the tennis courts and a swimming pool, in many ways the nicest park in Abilene. At least it's the closest to my house.
