Cupola - has a nice ring to it even if it might not match the WIKI architectural definition. My house's cupola did match the part of the definiation about an ornamental structure on the high point of the ROOF. I first called it a cupola when the roofer told me that it was in need of repair. As a result, the cupola came down off the roof to be examined and on the ground looks like a medium sized dog house.
