home staging: Small Homes Need Staging, Too
- 08/07/13 10:30 AM
Unfortunately, many homeowners and real estate agents have the idea that home staging is only for larger, more expensive homes. The fact is, that small houses/condos NEED staging MORE. Buyers want to be sure that the rooms are large enough for their furniture and may walk away from a property where they have doubts about the amount of space. In vacant properties, proper staging can eliminate that worry by showing the buyer that furniture does fit, and give them ideas of how to best use the space. In occupied paroperties, professional stagers can help homeowners eliminate clutter, edit furniture and accessories, (54 comments)
home staging: Staging a Model Home in Temple City, CA

I was recently asked to stage a model home in Temple City, CA. No problem. Then I was told that they wanted to be able to move the staging from one unit to another as they sold. HMM. Actually, the units are all pretty similar (but not identical), so I decided to make it work. For the living room, I chose a 4 piece sectional which I will arrange differently in the other units to accomodate the different layout. home staging: Home Staging During the Holidays

No one relishes the idea of having their house on the market over the holidays, but sometimes it just has to be. A question I'm often asked, as a professional home stager, is whether sellers should decorate their homes for Christmas. This can be tricky. Staging is all about de-personalizing and de-cluttering, and often Christmas decorations are both very personal and, if over-done, can definitely be considered clutter. Deciding to stage this investment property in South Pasadena was an excellent decision. Furnishing a vacant house always helps buyers to envision themselves living there, but in this case, staging had a more important job to do. This house was originally a duplex. The renovation merged the two units into one home and did an excellent job. Even so, the resulting floorplan was not the typical layout and could have caused some confusion for potential buyers if left vacant. Home staging was used to more clearly identify these rooms and show buyers how they might be used.

home staging: Staging a Renovated Craftsman in Upland, CA
- 09/17/12 10:31 AM
This wonderfully renovated historic Craftsman in Upland, CA was a bit of a mess when I first saw it, but the transformation is amazing. The owner did an excellent job of selecting finishes that respected the home's Craftsman roots, but gently brought it into the 21st century so that it would appeal to today's buyers. It was important to me for the home staging of this property to do the same. When staging a property, it is important that the furnishings match the style of the architecture, but as a professional home stager, it was equally important that those furnishings appeal (0 comments)
