The A.L.I.C.E Plan - New School Emergency Procedures Past practice for lockdowns has been fairly simple - staff locked their doors and turned off the lights. Students would move to a part of the room where they could not be seen and huddle quietly until they were given the "all clear" notice. The premise was to not bring attention to your presence and hopefully any intruder would leave you alone. This strategy changed after the Virginia Tech incident in 2007. The Avon Lake Symphonic Band is one of four bands from throughout the USA selected to perform at the 4th Annual Percy Grainger Wind Band Festival on March 9th in Chicago’s Orchestra Hall at Symphony Center. The students will rehearse and perform in this famous hall, home of the Chicago Symphony, and participate in a clinic with Colonel Arnald Gabriel, Conductor of the United States Air Force Band (retired). The Avon Lake Symphonic Band has been rehearsing for several months in preparation for this performance. Registration for the 2013 season begins January 27th. Registration is available online from January 27th thru March 23rd; register here. There will be two dates for in person registration; Saturday, February 16th, 9am-1pm and Thursday, February 28th 6-9pm in the commons area at the High School. The Ohio Department of Education today released all of the preliminary data for the 2011-2012 state report cards on Oct. 18. The district has a 96.3 percent attendance rate, 106.70 Performance Index and 100 percent of State Indicators met. The results have been published and the Avon Local School District has again earned an “Excellent” rating from the Ohio Department of Education. With School starting it is time when kids want ot hang out with their friends after sporting events and otehr community activities. The Avon Lake Patch recently posted a reminder of the city curfew for kids based on age as follows: The curfew for children 12 years of age and under is 10 p.m. Youngsters 13 to 15 years of age have to be home by 11 p.m. Hours are extended to 1 a.m. for those 16 to 17 years old.

Pool Pass and Daily Admission Fees Pool Membership Purchase Unlike previous years, pool pass sales will not be available on-line. Avon Lake residents wishing to purchase a pool pass will be required to not only do so in-person, but to have two definitive forms that confirm residency. Acceptable forms for adults include one photo ID plus and at least one of the following: current utility bill, current credit card bill, current car registration, current rental agreement, current pay stub, or passport.
