Selling your home in Stark County? If you have a septic system and live outside of the cities of Canton, Massillon and Alliance, then your back yard must be inspected too. The Stark County Health Department in January began enforcing a regulation that requires a home's sewage treatment system to be inspected before the property is sold. Exceptions to the the rule: Doesn't affect any home in the city limits of Canton, Massillon and Alliance or any property a court ordered to be transferred such as in a bankruptcy, foreclosure or transfer upon the death of property owner.
