Summer Brings Sales - In Foreclosures XI
As summer finally brings some rainstorms, we find that the foreclosure sales in Pierce County are dropping quite a bit at this time.  There were sixteen (16) foreclosure sales found last week in the Tacoma newspaper (TNT),  but there were only eleven (11) found this week (that is a drop of about 30 percent.
It looks very much like there is a dip hitting due to the holiday weekend. Though I keep seeing, and hearing about how many foreclosures still hanging on the books out here (and really popping out of the woodwork in some … (9 comments)

Summer Brings Sales - In Foreclosures X

As summer continues warm, we find that the foreclosure sales in Pierce County are dropping a bit at this time.  There were twenty-one (21) foreclosure sales found last week in the Tacoma newspaper (TNT),  but there were only sixteen (16) found this week.
It looks very much like there is a bulge hitting which may then taper off as fall gets here. Though I keep seeing, and hearing about how many foreclosures still hanging on the books out here (and really popping out of the woodwork in some other areas of the country), it … (9 comments)

Summer Brings Sales - In Foreclosures IX
As summer continues warm, we find that the foreclosure sales in Pierce County are holding steady at this time.  There were eighteen (18) foreclosure sales found last week in the Tacoma newspaper (TNT),  but there were twenty-one (21) found this week.
Like last week which was split over four dates this weekalso had four dates. Next week had the next most with 17 (nearly as many as all four last week.) The other four were split as follows: two weeks out on Aug. 30th - one, four weeks out on Sept. 13 there was one, … (0 comments)

The Way Things Are In My Life
As part of the contest Debbie Reynolds has scheduled, here are some of the things that are going on in my life now:
My loving and supportive wife and I are approaching our 42nd anniversary this November, and I am planning to get her out of our trips to see the kids and grandkids routine, and spend some time in a warmer clime.
As an ordained minister in the LC-MS (Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod) I am called to serve a small parish on Anderson Island, in Puget Sound.  Fortunately they own the building and property, … (9 comments)

Garfield Street Fair - "Honoring Yesterday, Moving Forward Today"
The annual Garfield Street Fair is coming up on August 17th, from 10 am to 5 pm.  This year, instead of using nearly two full blocks on Garfield, the fair will be using one block on Garfield, and then two shorter blocks on Park Ave, creating a "T" shape for fairgoers to navigate.
Something else that has changed is the location of the Car Show - which looks to have over 50 classic and antique cars participating.  This year instead of a grassy field, the cars will be parking on the … (4 comments)

What a Month - Weatherwise
The month is over, and things were very different for the Seattle Tacoma area in July.
The first thing that was different, especially for the area, was that there was NO measurable rainfall for the entire month (measurable could be as little as .005").  Normally, there would be about 0.61" for the month.  That may not seem like much for those of you who are used to summer storms … (3 comments)

Summer Brings Sales - In Foreclosures VII
As summer continues warm, we find that the sales are down a bit now.  There were twenty-three (23) foreclosure sales found this week in the Tacoma newspaper (TNT),  which is down seven from last week’s thirty (30).
These were split over four dates. Four weeks out on August 30th had the most with nine (not quite half the largest report from last week). Next week had the next most with 8 (same as last week's report).   There were also four listings for two weeks out on August 16th.  The final two notes were for … (2 comments)

Summer Brings Sales - In Foreclosures VI
As summer continues warm, we find that the sales are heating up as well.  There were thirty (30) foreclosure sales found this week in the Tacoma newspaper (TNT),  which is up nearly double to last week’s sixteen.
These were split over four dates  (in comparison to last week's two). Four weeks out on August 23th had the most with nearly two-thirds of the total  - nineteen. Next week had the next most with 8.   There were also two listings for two weeks out on August 9th.  The final note was for one that is five … (2 comments)

tacoma: Tacoma Gets Another Parade! - 07/24/13 05:42 AM
Tacoma Gets Another Parade!
For many years Tacoma regularly held parades with a military emphasis.  Something to be expected with Fort Lewis and McChord Air Force Base (now Joint Base Lewis McChord) nearby.   For whatever reason, those parades have been on hiatis.
This year there is a renewal of this great tradition.  The Daffodil Festival group (who put on the annual Daffodil Festival Parades in the spring) are partnering with the City of Tacoma to present a "Celebration of Military Service Parade" this Saturday evening, August 24th in downtown Tacoma.
The parade's purpose is to honor and celebrate the large number … (8 comments)

Summer Brings Sales - In Foreclosures V
As Summer heats up, we find that the sales are heating up as well.  There were sisteen (16) foreclosure sales found this week in the  newspaper (TNT),  which is down a bit from the twenty-four last week.
These were split over only two dates (in comparison to last week's four). Four weeks out on August 16th had the most with nearly all -- fourteen. Next week had the other two.   Along with the five from last week for the 16th, that brings the total for that day to nineteen (19).  As is normal, these … (10 comments)

These were split over four different dates. Four weeks out on August 9th had the most with nearly half -- eleven. Next week had six more.   There were also two noted for two weeks from now, and anther four for five weeks out on August 16th.  As is … (9 comments)

Moving Up In AR World
This morning, as I logged in, and post this blog, I have moved up into a bit more of a rarefied portion of Active Rain.
This post will put me into the top one thousand (by points) in the AR universe.  I know it is a far cry from Lenn Harley who passed two million points today - but it is important to me - putting me in the top One Thousand out of over 320,000 participants.
For those who might be interested here is the breakdown for all my counts:

Summer Brings Sales - In Foreclosures II
As Summer heats up, we find that the sales are heating up as well.  Though there were only ten foreclosure sales noted in the  newspaper (TNT) this week the number jumped up to twenty-one!
These were split almost evenly between next Friday, July 12th and four weeks out on August 2nd. Next week had a couple extra, with a total of eleven sales scheduled.  Next month's first sales were showing nine scheduled.  The other two were evenly split between two weeks out on July 19th, and five weeks out on August 9th.  As is normal, … (6 comments)

Spring Brings Sales - In Foreclosures - VIII
Well, now that summer has arrived, according to the calendar,  I may have to update this title, but in the meantime, it is time to review what happened in the foreclosure listings last week on Friday for the Pierce County Washington area..
Turns out that the numbers went back up again.  There were a total of 13 listings for upcoming foreclosure sales in the paper on Friday.  There was one for July 19th, and about half the rest were for June 28th, and the others for … (6 comments)

Spring Brings Sales - In Foreclosures - VII
Well, the numbers moved again. Today's legal notices showed a steep jump from
last week's four, as there were seven (7) notices of upcoming foreclosures in this
morning's newspaper (TNT - Tacoma) for Pierce County.
Of these, six of them were the four week notice before the proposed sales on
July 5 (I wonder how many buyers are going to be around that long weekend?),
while the other one was for the following week.
With the other news that sales of homes listed for sales have gone up significantly
compared to the … (0 comments)

Spring Brings Sales - In Foreclosures - VI
Another Friday, and time for the weekly report on the legal notices about the upcoming foreclosure auctions in the Pierce County area.
As those who have been following this for a bit know, about two months ago there was a spike in listings with 40 one week, since then the numbers have been going down and up, but mostly down.
Today's TNT legal notices showed only 4 (four) listings for upcoming foreclosure auction sales at the County Building.  All four were fore sale date of June 28th -- so they were getting … (2 comments)

Spring Brings Sales - In Foreclosures - IV
Here we go again, with the numbers climbing again this week.  There were sixteen foreclosure sales listed in the legal notices section of the local newspaper (The Tacoma News Tribune).  This is equal to the total of the last two weeks combined.
Of these, fifteen of them were for sales to be taking place next Friday, May 24th. So it looks like the county courthouse 2nd floor entry plaza will be a busy place in mid-morning. The other one was set for sale on June 20th.

tacoma: A Break in Our Dry Spell - 05/13/13 06:06 AM
A Break in Our Dry Spell
This past weekend, the Seattle-Tacoma area set a record for the longest dry spell to start the month of May.  It had previously been 9 days, but it wasn't until late Saturday or early Sunday (depending on where one was located that this dry spell ended.   In Tacoma, ours came with a whopping 0.05" of rain to break the dry spell (that is the total for this month so far with 0.02" of it coming on Mother's day).
During the first week of May, we were having unseasonably warm weather -- it even set … (8 comments)

Spring Brings Sales - In Foreclosures - III
As we continue through this spring (acting more like summer here in the Seattle Tacoma area) - the foreclosures continue to show up in the legal notices section of the newspaper.
For those who missed it, two weeks ago, there were 40 listings in the local paper. Last week it was 10 and this week it is only SIX.  However, unlike last week when the announced dates of sale went out 30 days, this week they are ALL SIX for next Friday!
Earlier this week, the news reports came in from Realty/Trac Inc. … (5 comments)

Spring Brings Sales - In Foreclosures - II
Earlier this week, I reported on the number of foreclosures that appeared in the local newspaper last Friday (40).
As it is again Friday, the newspaper has listed the upcoming foreclosure sales today.  This time there were only 10.  Maybe last week was just an anomaly.  The listings this week include sales that will be held beginning next Friday -- and run through sales scheduled through the first Friday of June.  A quick glance shows the balances due on these loans running from about $140,000 to over $500,000.
It is interesting that several … (11 comments)
