routt county: Protecting Your Family Against Radon
- 01/21/15 03:49 AM
Protecting Your Family Against Radon January is National Radon Action Month so what better time to discuss what radon is, why it matters, and what you can do if your home has high radon levels. I blogged about radon a couple of years ago but it is worth covering again because of the health risks associated with high radon levels and the preventability of those risks. Have you tested your home's radon levels? What is radon? Radon is an odorless, colorless, tasteless

Steamboat Springs Real Estate Report Real estate transactions, both locally and national, continue to be steady thanks in part to low interest rates and stronger job creation. I certainly helped my fair share of Routt County residents and second-home owners buy and sell properties this summer (17 transactions so far). It's always fun assisting folks in finding the right home for them and helping those who are ready to move on from their existing dwelling. Thanks to my clients past and present for trusting me with this important task. Pending sales UP / interest rates DOWN Local Steamboat Springs Market Routt County

routt county: STOP - Just STOP! Save Our Bears
- 04/16/13 10:02 PM
STOP - Just STOP! Save Our Bears 100 bears were killed in 2012 - up from 32 in 2011 in just three Colorado Counties. We need to STOP and think and save our bears. Bear 504 with his new collar - Photo compliments of Sharon Buroch-Murdo One interaction between a bear and a dumpster can mean a death sentence for that bear. Once a bear finds feed in your birdfeeder or tasty trash, he will learn to come back. It’s a little like finding out that wild raspberries taste good-they will keep looking for them to eat. And bear/human interactions are a losing

routt county: The Zoo comes to you in Steamboat Springs, Colorado
- 08/27/12 12:55 AM
The Zoo comes to you in Steamboat Springs, Colorado. Bears, deer, moose, elk, raccoon, fox, even skunks are often seen on a regular basis living in Steamboat Springs. I remember 8 years ago when I moved here we saw 2 black bears in our backyard the first day. Later that week I drove through Yellowstone and remember being stuck in a huge traffic jam while people looked at a couple bears about 100 yards away. Don't get me wrong, Yellowstone is an awesome place, but living in Steamboat Springs, the zoo often comes to you. This was taken from my backyard

- 04/12/12 05:23 AM
Steamboat Springs Trending More Favorably than National Foreclosure Numbers RealtyTrac Inc. reported today that the number of homes receiving first time foreclosure notices nationally rose 7% in March from February numbers. This marks the third consecutive month this year that foreclosure notices have increased nationally. It was a known fact that shadow inventory exists, and now it’s becoming evident just how many unpaid mortgages were hung up in the banking system awaiting a court settlement that came through in February. With the $25B settlement reached, it’s clear that banks have resumed their quest to address unpaid mortgages. We have a brighter

routt county: Steamboat Springs December Real Estate Market Outpaces Snowfall
- 01/23/12 07:45 AM
The snowfall was lacking in Steamboat Springs at the end of 2011, but the Steamboat Springs real estate market, while not booming, was finishing up the year on an overall positive note. In hindsight, the real estate market in Steamboat Springs is still trying to achieve sure footing on what has been a slippery slope throughout 2011, but there are some positive signs where a year ago we were not seeing much to be optimistic about. While some price points are doing well, others are struggling, and bank owned sales are driving actual dollar volumes down overall. So what does it all

routt county: Steamboat Springs, CO November Sales Up - Could be Tebow-Like 4th Quarter
- 12/22/11 04:01 AM
There was definitely more to be thankful for in November than family, friends, football and turkey. What we lacked in snow fall, we made up for in real estate sales in November. November real estate sales were great. And looking at the recent absorption rate, I'd say the Steamboat Springs Real Estate Market is looking much better. ( Please note: I recently blogged about the attributes of "knowing the market." The stats came out today with a rather large error. I caught it and researched it. There was not a $11 million dollar transaction in Steamboat. So I re-calculated the numbers with
