south mountain trails: Clouds Call for a Hike in the Nearby Mountains - Monsoons in Phoenix

The Sun was somewhere behind the clouds in the August sky in Tempe, AZ. For me that is an immeadiate invitation to look at the air temperature and the UV index. This morning the temperature was around 93°F, and the UV index showed 3 - so, I was off to the South Mountain.
For those of my readers who will be moving to AZ and like hiking, here is an easy trail at South Mountain. South Mountain Park/Preserve is the largest municipal park in the United States. It's about 16,000 acres.

The trail is easy walking, with changing scenery and views of different parts of Phoenix metro area. Pima Canyon is located at 9904 S (14 comments)
