100% financing is still available! USDA has a financing program that still permits 100%. In fact in some cases they will go to 102%! However, the home to be purchased must be in "rural" area. However, many homes that you and I would not consider to be in a rural are eligible. There are of course some credit and income restrictions but this is a great option for first time home buyers. Davie County real estate is still holding strong. Despite the nationwide housing crunch that the media is blasting out, property in Davie County is holding value. Living on High Rock Lake is great! There are a couple of draw backs though. First it is a long commute to nearby big cities. Second, there are not a lot of local choices when it comes to food and shopping. Speaking of food I have to give a plug for Southern BBQ in Southmont, they have great service and awesome food. High Rock Lake is one of the largest lakes in North Carolina second only to Lake Norman. The lake is about 15,180 acres and 365 miles of shoreline. High Rock is a eutrophic lake with lots of nutrients being delivered from the Yakdin River and other tributaries. These nutrients support lots of living things. High Rock Lake is one of the best parts of Davidson County (aside from the excellent BBQ, people, and sense of community). So I can understand why folks at Foster's Point are a little upset that they may lose their sites. Rumor has it that the campground may be selling out and the potential buyers are seeking rezoning (probably for condos). While this would be a good idea for investment as the lake only has one set of condos, if it means putting average folks out their lake sites, I am not sure I can support that. High Rock Lake water levels are really dipping!! Many boats and piers are on the ground with no signs of water levels coming up. There is some mention of possible rain this weekend, but it really needs to be a lot in order raise these water levels. With High Rock being down about 7 feet rain would be a gift right now! It has been so dry that we have not mowed our grass since the first week in July! The lake is very quite now not a lot of boat traffic (since many are on the ground). Who loves High Rock Lake? I love High Rock Lake! Living on the lake is one of the most wonderful parts of my life. High Rock is one of the largest lakes in North Carolina with 15,250 acres 366 Miles of shoreline. There is enough room for jet skis, power boats, sail boats, fisherman, and all the recreational users that visit. Real estate on the lake is for the most part reasonable.
