The Veteran Home Buyer I recently had an interesting discussion with a loan officer in San Diego about the Veteran home buyer. She posed the question: "Is it really more difficult to find a home for a client utilizing a VA Home Loan?" I believe today's market in San Diego provides challenges for many buyers. Tighter lending standards and Short Sales being the majority of available properties has presented difficulty to many potential home buyers, not just Veterans! However, perception is everything! Last year I worked with a military family that really struggled to get an offer accepted. With every offer we made, they were just not the offer sellers were looking for. Too many cash buyers or conventional financing were a little more desirable than 100% financing on a VA loan. Even though we wrote offers above asking price (when value allowed) and closing costs to be covered by the lender. It was quite a struggle. We looked at everything. It is March, 2008 and I have been referred to the greatest couple looking for a house in Santee, Ca. This couple is a friend of a friend and we hit it off perfectly!
