staging consultation: If You Know One, Why Not Use One?

I have toured 2 houses in my neighborhood within the past month that have been languishing on the market and taken significant price reductions. In one case, the price reductions now total more than $100K! I am always curious when I see that taking place, so often take advantage of open house opportunities to view the property and gain some insight. In both houses, there were some obvious (to me) and relatively simple "fixes" that could improve the appeal of the house to potential buyers. The first house contained a rainbow of paint colors, including turquoise, lavendar and faux techniques. Not exactly the neutrals that most buyers are looking for. The (3 comments)
staging consultation: Lost to Followup

I offer a followup visit to homeowners of an occupied property as part of my staging consultation. There is no additional cost--it is included in the consultation fee. Yet, I find that many homeowners do not take advantage of the followup visit. The purpose of the followup is to "fine tune" furniture and accessory placement and offer final suggestions. I tell homeowners to contact me once they have completed the work from the written consultation to schedule the followup. Of course, I am always interested in seeing the final product and gathering the "after" photos. I miss the gratification when it doesn't happen! I am curious why sellers (7 comments)
