CoreLogic’s latest Equity Report revealed that 91,000 properties regained equity in the first quarter of 2017. This is great news for the country, as 48.2 million of all mortgaged properties are now in a positive equity situation.
Price Appreciation = Good News for Homeowners!
Frank Nothaft, Chief Economist with CoreLogic explains:
“One million borrowers achieved positive equity over the last year, which means risk continues to steadily decline as a result of increasing home prices.”

With housing prices appreciating at levels that far exceed historical norms, some are fearful that the market is heading for another bubble. To alleviate that fear, we just need to look back at the reasons that caused the bubble ten years ago.
We should do a brief review of the recent past here.....Over the last decade, demand for housing was artificially propped up because mortgage lending standards were way too lenient. People that were not qualified to purchase were able to attain a mortgage anyway. Prices began to skyrocket. This increase in demand caused homebuilders in many markets to overbuild.

Procrastination can be a dirty word that costs you far more $$$ later, than it will now...
“Cost of Waiting to Buy” is defined as the additional funds it would take to buy a home if prices and interest rates were to increase over a period of time. Freddie Mac predicts that interest rates will increase to 4.8% by this time next year, while home prices are predicted to appreciate by 4.9% according to CoreLogic. Waiting until next year to buy could cost you thousands of dollars a year for the life of your mortgage!

This flyer was wedged in our front door last night, and it made me smile and think. I have been selling or marketing one thing or another for over 30 years, and I really appreciated Chris's flattery, his honesty, and simplicity. How great it would be if every "pitch" was this way! By the way, I actually LIKE mowing my lawn, and I will not be calling Chris for help, but I would if I was tired of mowing my large suburban yard! Good Job Chris! :)
