It is January in NW Iowa, Storm Lake to be exact. So far this year we have had 2 snow falls, both slight compared to our usual massive accumulation. The good weather has helped keep the Storm Lake MLS active and Storm Lake homes and surrounding area homes selling. The story has taken a very serious turn for the worse, the staircase in question (it is actually physically in the first building - owned by the investors) is owned by the adjacent building owner (the one with the apartment at the top of the stairs). As unbelievable as it seems, according to the abstract in 1898 the staircase was sold to the neighboring building's owner for $50. A property was sold to a couple of investors, it was previously a 4 plex on the Main Street of a small town. At the change of ownership the town required the street level front apartment to be turned into professional or retail space. This was done. The upstairs was gutted and is in the process of being turned into two new apartments. The problem arises with the neighboring building.
