broadwater: Renovations underway at Maximo Marina - 01/17/17 11:39 AM
Maximo Marina is removing all the docks and pilings in the southeast corner of the marina to replace them all. They have already completed the southwest corner. Because it is grandfathered, Maximo will be allowed to replace the roofs over the many covered slips.
Maximo is the largest marina on the west coast of Florida. It has 220 slips and three megayacht berths. It has a safe harbour and is connected to Boca Ciega Bay and the Intercoastal Waterway through a 200 ft wide canal. It has a fuel dock and 24 hour security. Maintenance facilities are also on premises.

broadwater: Broadwater residents beautify waterfront vista - 01/06/17 07:22 AM
New waterfront railing options were presented to the Broadwater residents to replace the decayed, unsafe and ugly bollards between the roadway and the waterfront.  Four options were presented, ranging in cost from $10,000 to $75,000 for the residents' share (the city will be contributing $25,000). The residents voted for the option you see shown with an approximate cost to Broadwater of $35,000.  Even residents who do not travel on this road contributed, since it improves the whole neighborhood.  Many thanks to resident John Sokol for all his assistance, and also to fellow Board member, Mike Zito, for the many hours they … (0 comments)

broadwater: When chain link is a GOOD thing - 04/25/09 11:02 AM
One of our buyers called me recently, concerned about the chain-linked motel near the house she had under contract.
I explained to her that the residents in Broadwater had worked long and hard to GET the motel closed! The Broadwater neighborhood worked closely with the police to monitor activity, to report and complain.
Indeed, the police did empty the former Knight's Inn on 34th Street South in St Petersburg, much to the delight of the nearby residents. Utilities had been turned off for nonpayment, so living there was a health concern.
Now we see dumpsters on the premises, and these pieces … (0 comments)

broadwater: Waterfront streets in Broadwater, a neighborhood in southwest St Petersburg, Florida - 08/30/08 12:58 PM
Tonight I was reminded once again of a phenomenon I've noticed here in Broadwater. a waterfront neighborhood in southwest St. Petersburg. Having many clients and friends in the neighborhood, I'm often invited to parties, or over for dinner or sunset cocktails. Regardless of which cul-de-sac or street they live on, people tell me they are so glad that they live on the "best" block in Broadwater. They have the best neighbors, the best friends. The interesting point is that every block is saying this. It's not a coffee klatsch area, but neighbors do care about each other and look out for … (2 comments)

broadwater: Why Build New instead of Building Up? - 11/18/06 12:19 AM
The young couple who own this home wanted to just add a second story to the Florida ranchstyle home they bought in St. Petersburg.  They tried and tried to get a design that would work, but continued to be stymied by the 50% rule. To continue receiving subsidies for the city in the form or reduced flood insurance rates for all residents, St Pete must abide by the 50% rule. This means that (in a year) you're only allowed to improve or add on 50% of the value of your existing house WITHOUT considering the land value! So logic tells you … (0 comments)
