Not only are lanes closed for construction, but an entire block of Central Avenue from 1st St to 2nd St is closed to vehicle and pedestrian traffic. This is the block between these two construction projects.

downtown st petersburg: St Petersburg's Beach Drive is the best place to be! - 08/18/10 12:11 PM
St Petersburg's Beach Drive
is the best place to be reads the headline in this morning's St Pete Times. Their article talks about some of the history of Beach Drive and how it's become a very desirable place to live, work and play.
We saw this in 2008 when an optical shop moved out along Beach Drive - before there was even a sign saying the space was available, we grabbed it - and opened our new boutique real estate company, ALVA International. Beach Drive has become real estate row, in addition to the many restaurants, shops & museums and of … (8 comments)

downtown st petersburg: Questions about the sunrise photo and apologies to Lee - 12/12/09 08:06 AM
Back in October I posted this photo of the sunrise over Vinoy Basin in downtown St Petersburg and was so pleased that many people found it as beautiful as I did.
Lee Jinks posted a comment and asked me various questions about it. Later he posted another comment, thinking he had offended me with his questions. He did not and I felt badly that I was too rushed to answer his questions. I'm sorry, Lee, and here are your answers:
What time did I get set up? Well, I didn't set up. Sunrise then was about 7:30 am - as usual … (19 comments)

downtown st petersburg: Mounted Police in downtown St Petersburg - 09/15/09 06:17 AM

I was having lunch at the St Petersburg Yacht Club when I saw this pair pass the big window by the waterfront. This is their first day on the job here, so heads are turning and people are coming outside to watch.
Tami took this photo from right outside our office - one more attraction we can see from … (9 comments)

downtown st petersburg: Parking Meters create Poor Publicity and Punctures Profits - 05/31/09 05:42 AM
Recently the City of St Petersburg installed parking meters along Beach Drive - ostensibly to prevent employees from taking parking spaces away from customers - but we all know it's to increase revenue to the City.
50 cents an hour, two hour max, with a 2 hour limit.  8 am to 11 pm.  7 days a week!  Different blocks have different maximum times and different enforcement hours, but that - which creates lots of confusion - is a topic for another blog!
Poor Publicity when visitors to downtown St Pete don't have change.
Poor Publicity when someone dines at a local restaurant, … (9 comments)

downtown st petersburg: A happy customer visits new ALVA International office in downtown St Petersburg - 02/15/09 02:08 AM
Our new real estate office, ALVA International, Inc. in downtown St Petersburg is pet friendly as well as people friendly.
Beach Drive is a popular spot for walkers, whether they're shopping, visiting the museums and art galleries, strolling to walk off a great meal at one of several nearby restaurants, or dogwalking. The Simms Team keeps a dog bowl of water outside the ALVA International office for the passing dogs, and keeps dog treats inside - not everyone wants their pet to have them.
Molly and Tasha visit frequently, and are part of our real estate family. We keep their treats … (6 comments)
