activerain: My World of Bits, Bytes, & Pixels - 01/31/12 01:28 AM
I guess it is no secret, I am not letting anything out of the bag here, but I spend a lot of time in front of a computer screen. A lot of time conversing, learning, laughing,  living in my digital world of bits, bytes, & pixels. All too often I am asked why I would spend so much time “online”. Well let me say that I do not spend my day playing angry birds, orFarmville, or tweeting what I am doing every second of the day or night. I am working, and living and working within the social media world is no different from … (3 comments)

Okay so you decided to start that blogging campaign, you've done a great job gathering pictures, researching your information, making your blog look it's best. Dang it you got some quality content sitting there on your blog site, you are as proud as you can be, because you know you've just created a killer blog post. Two days, four days, seven days go by and nobody is reading your killer blog. What's wrong here...
Writing and posting a blog without promoting it is no different than creating a website and not driving people to … (15 comments)

activerain: I've Been Blogging for a Week... And Nothings Happened - 08/31/11 12:52 AM
I've Been Blogging for a Week... And Nothings Happened As is often the case after the "I have no time for that blogging stuff" excuse, and " nobody is gonna read what I have to say" comes,"I've been blogging like you said and nothings happened" Conventional wisdom will tell us that most things worth doing take time, however with blogging I have seen new bloggers find a sweet spot and get big time recognition right off the bat. That is not the norm however. Blogging takes time and a key word in any blogging campaign is consistency, consistency, consistency, and while … (51 comments)

activerain: From the SEO Experts...Getting an SEO BS (not bachelors of science) - 05/04/11 03:21 AM
From the SEO Experts...Getting an SEO BS (not bachelors of science)  I am often asked how to accomplish different tasks within the SEO/Social Media Marketing world, and often the amount of information out there comes up. Just spend five minutes on Twitter and you will see hundreds of SEO/SMM related tweets, some worth the time it takes to click and explore, and then there are others that are just spam. People often ask how long I have been involved in SEO/SMM and how I learned what I know. I have been working on my SEO/SMM for well over a year, and I … (8 comments)

activerain: Whats the Real Reason You are Blogging - 01/24/11 06:27 AM
Whats the Real Reason You are BloggingOver the past couple of days I have seen more and more posts related to the comments section of posts here on AR. What does it mean when I get hardly any comments, can comment stats help improve my blog content, do you get a comment rush when alot of people comment? All valid questions, but it brought me to a thought that really is the heart of the matter. Who is my target audience?Who is your target AudienceSo who are witting to, what's the purpose of the post, and who do you want to … (22 comments)

activerain: Addiction beyond ActiveRain - Is It Real - 01/11/11 02:22 AM
Addiction beyond ActiveRain - Is It RealRecently Pat Kennedy came up with a great idea and wonderful concept in creating a contest to blog about how addicting ActiveRaincan be, and how many of us spend an unusual amount time on the platform. I took the not so serious path in responding to the task, writing about my need for a program. While it was somewhat tongue in cheek as I do spend a large amount of time in front 4 large screens getting way deeper into the workings of websites and crawlers, bots, meta tags, I am hooked. But I digress, … (24 comments)

activerain: AR Referral Under Contract - 09/22/10 04:53 AM
AR Referral Under ContractAnother Activerain referral goes under contract. 2944 Village Square Rd, Dover, Pa is under contract. This is yet another Activerain referral, and speaking of Activerain referrals, I received two referrals just this morning from the Activerain network.Who says that Activerain and blogging don't work! I have been singing in the rain since Oct of 2009, it has been roughly one year, in that time I have navigated my way through the blogging world, built myself a solid foundation of blogging colleagues, professional networks, consumers following my blogs, etc. All of this through Activerain participation and additional services such … (18 comments)

ActiveRain History part deux or Ahhh this isn’t Helping my Addiction

Let’s move our story to early 2006; Matt and Jonathan are faced with a system that is having trouble getting traction out of the transaction management piece of ActiveRain. That was a big problem in that without that portion of the system running well, ActiveRain would not be able to grow. Matt and Jonathon had a meeting of the minds and made the decision that would be the turning point for ActiveRain, turning it into the ActiveRain social network that all know and love, and are hopelessly addicted to … (30 comments)

activerain: ActiveRain-The Early Years or Who can I Blame for this Addiction - 03/29/10 03:10 AM
ActiveRain-The Early Years or Who can I Blame for this Addiction

I recently was engaged in a conversation with someone who is not a Realtor or an ActiveRain member, but who knows the power of the Rain all too well. As you might have guessed, my wife and I were discussing ActiveRain and she got me thinking with one little question. “ I wonder how many members there were when ActiveRain started?”

That one question had my mind going, wondering who started ActiveRain, when did ActiveRain become a concept, why did it even become a concept, and finally where … (52 comments)

activerain: Are You a Playa In An Adams County High School - 03/04/10 04:18 AM
Are You a Playa In An Adams County High School Happily for me it is time for Adams County High Schools to perform. Theater that is, it is high school play season here in Adams County, and we the residents are the big winners. My wife and I have belonged to the Fulton Theater since moving to Gettysburg, Pa, but the I totally enjoy the local HS productions as well. I was never into theater until we joined the Fulton but have become as addicted to it as I have Activerain. We attend most of the local HS productions and have never … (1 comments)

activerain: Thanks to the Rain Gods - We're Not Worthy... - 02/18/10 02:41 AM
Thanks to the Rain Gods - We're Not Worthy...I have been a Rainmaker here at Activerain since October of 2009 and it has been a great ride for me. I have been uber active on the site squeezing every bit of knowledge, experience, expertise that all the wonderful Activerain members offer. I am constantly amazed at how much direction, counsel and guidance is out there, and how easily accessible it all is through Activerain. What amazes me the most is the accessibility of the principals within Activerain.                                Since October I have had two small issues that popped up … (4 comments)

The Power of Active Rain is at your Fingertips

As the song goes "I've got the power", it really is true when you think about the benefits of belonging to the Activerain community. When I got to Activerain I was not at my best, the economy was in the toilet, the real estate market was in the tank, and I was completely disillusioned about where the market was heading as well as where my real estate career was heading. Then a funny thing happened, a instructor for a real estate class introduced to me Activerain. It did not take me … (6 comments)

All this Snow has it Raining Hard in the House; Recognizing Activerain as a Learning Institution

All this snow that has been falling for the past 9 hours has finally given me the time to revisit book marked blog posts for closer viewing. It has become clear to me that I need to treat Activerain as if I am attending a learning institution, at least on a part time basis, say 8 to 10 units. We aren’t talking community college here; Activerain is right up there with the best of the Ivy League institutions. There are rules that can better … (7 comments)

activerain: You Can Lead A Realtor to Activerain, but You Can't Make em Think - 12/06/09 10:55 PM
I have been involved with Activerain for about 2 months and greatly appreciate the person that opened my eyes and introduced me to the Activerain network. That network has expanded beyond Gettysburg, Adams County Pennsylvania to now include the entire United States Realtor world. In turn I have invited numerous colleagues to take part in a journey that would surely improve their business, increase their knowledge base, and generally enhance their quality of life, yet many have steered clear. Now why is that? RAYAC (Realtors Association of York & Adams Counties) has thousands of Realtors, yet only 180 are registered here … (9 comments)

activerain: Are You a “Blooming” Agent, Or a Just Another “Bloomin Agent”? - 11/28/09 12:07 AM

Are You a "Blooming" Agent, Or a "Bloomin Agent"?

I think as Realtors we need to take stock of what we are doing to be a Realtor whose business is Blooming as opposed to the agent who is just another Bloomin agent. What are you doing to stand out from the crowd? Why would a potential client choose you above another Realtor? Is there something that you are doing that makes clients think, now there's an agent that is thinking out of the box, a Realtor that will get my house sold! Are you going to dazzle them with … (3 comments)

Has Activerain inspired you to achieve?
I was taking some time to reflect this morning about some big changes in my life over the last 4 weeks. The big three are; my son got engaged to his longtime girlfriend, to weeks later my daughter got engaged to her longtime boyfriend, and last but not least, I joined Activerain and became a Rainmaker.
While the two engagements have definitely inspired me to increase my income, the last event has inspired me to ACHIEVE.The weddings of my two children will be milestone events in my life and I am totally ready, okay, not totally … (33 comments)
