gettysburg: You Had Me At S-Pen Galaxy Note 3 Review - 01/05/14 09:25 PM
The world has gone mad with mobile devices, and of course I am in the middle of the madness. Thank goodness. I recently needed to upgrade my mobile device, no one calls them phones anymore simply because using them as a phone is a rare occasion. Today's "cell phones" are actually mini computers that are capable of performing almost all tasks that a laptop would perform. I had to give up my original Galaxy Note, a device which I loved, but after just a few days with the Note 3 I don't miss it at all. This device flat out ROCKS!! Lets look at … (10 comments)

gettysburg: It’s Only Weird If It Doesn’t Work - 01/01/14 10:38 PM
Well it’s the end of yet another year, another year of learning, doing, reaching some goals, missing the mark on some others, but all in all VERY productive. Like many, not just in the social space, this end of the year time frame means evaluating the past year, and planning for the year ahead. For me I always seem to have some sort of restlessness during this exercise, it seems I have been filling my brain with different pieces of information, techniques, and practices. All that stew of information comes together about now and with luck I come up a clear … (5 comments)

gettysburg: Social Media Influence: Have You Got It - 03/19/13 04:32 AM
Is There Such a Thing But of Course Of course there is such a thing, we all influence somebody in our own ways. However this article is more about a culture, how it perceives influence, and most importantly, can that influence be measured correctly, and what weight should be applied to it. The inspiration for this article comes from a wonderful piece by Mark Schaefer “Reflections on social media power and influence”, so first off…thanks Mark, always appreciated that you make me think. I suggest all read Marks article prior to reading here for context.
I’ve Grown Tired I have to say that the whole influence … (0 comments)

Tips for Both… As with most things there are two sides to every coin, social media and the platforms that

surround it are no different. In the social space there to two kinds of people when it comes to content, consumers and creators. Most often the usual arrangement consists of social media professionals on behalf of themselves or on behalf of a client creating content for the consumer. It is always a challenge for those that create to find the content that the consumer is looking for, hence the “listening” and strategy sessions so commonly talked and written about in the social space by social … (7 comments)

gettysburg: Tips on Choosing a Social Media Manager - 03/08/13 05:52 AM
Thinking about hiring a Social Media manager?
With all the buzz surrounding all things Social Media, it is no wonder there are so many social media  “experts” and “guru’s” invading the social media space. For someone like myself who works daily in the social space this is major concern. As I see the numbers of individuals proclaiming themselves “Social Media Managers” I find myself worrying about the small businesses out there who have little experience with social media that are spending hard earned money on what can best be described as “snake oil” salesmen. It just boggles my mind when I look at the social footprint … (3 comments)

gettysburg: Is Social Media the Kerosene of our Times - 01/02/13 06:43 PM
Is Social Media the kerosene of our times? The other evening I was watching a show on the history channel about “The Men Who Built America” and it was interesting to learn the role that Kerosene played in the building of this country. I was unaware how much change took place from just one product.  One product changed the way that our entire country went about it’s business. It has affected how we all live our lives. Why, it made night-time business possible.
  NIGHT-TIME BUSINESS
Contrary to popular belief, social media is not where the 24/7 business concept began. Up until the discovery … (20 comments)

gettysburg: Gettysburg Battlefield Little Round Top - 01/30/11 04:41 AM
Gettysburg Battlefield Little Round TopLittle Round Top Is probably the most strategic geographical area on the entire Gettysburg Battlefield. Luckily for Union forces Col. Strong Vincent saw the strategic value of the hill top and made sure that the ground came into and remained in Union hands. Not that the Confederate forces did not try to take the Little Round Top. Two brigades in Maj. Gen. John Bell Hoods division, one under command of Brig. Gen. E.M. Law and another under command of Brig. Gen. J.B. Robertson attacked the western slope of Little Round Top. It is there that the 20th … (4 comments)

gettysburg: A Kick Out What, When Your Dream House just can't Wait - 01/27/11 02:41 AM
A Kick Out What, When Your Dream House just can't WaitI am currently in a real estate deal here in Gettysburg and it involves a number of dominoes to fall correctly for the deal to go through. I mentioned to my client that we might be able to utilize a kick out clause. The reaction I got clearly told me that they had never heard of such a thing. So being the relieable Gettysburg Realtor that  I strive to be here is an explaination of the "kick out" clause. The formal definition:            A term that refers to a real … (4 comments)

gettysburg: Gettysburg NiteLife - 01/23/11 02:14 AM
Gettysburg NiteLifeLast night it got down to 9 degrees in Gettysburg Pa. It was a Saturday night and I think half the town had the same attitude as my wife and I, let's get out for a bit. Gettysburg has had a mild winter as far as snow is concerned thus far, but it has been cold and those that live in a winter climate understand that "cabin fever" that occasionally sets in . Well apparently there was a mutual consensus among the residents of Gettysburg that last night was the night to cure the fever. A little Gettysburg NiteLife was … (6 comments)

Do I Have to do Anything to get my Home Show ReadyThis is a conversation that this Gettysburg Realtor has far too often. More often than one would think home owners who are putting their homes on the market fail to really understand what is involved marketing a home for sale, or what their role in that endeavor consists of. Here in Gettysburg Pa  alot of what needs to be done depends on the season winter, spring, summer or fall. Whether it is a single family home, duplex or rental marketing tips cross over and need to be observed for a … (4 comments)

From the Plate of GettysburgGerry - Dining Choices in Gettysburg Pa It amazes me how often I get contact from people out of the area inquiring about dining choices for their upcoming visit to Gettysburg Pa. Most often I hear from people that have read a blog about a Gettysburg historic home or Gettysburg Battlefieldstory, sometimes one of my blogs, sometimes not, but somehow I have become the Internet food critic for the area. A title I happily accept. One great thing about Gettysburg is that there are some wonderful choices here. Everything from fine dining to take out, all are … (8 comments)

gettysburg: In the Wake of Asbestos, Termites and Toxic Mold - 01/12/11 07:45 AM
In the Wake of Asbestos, Termites and Toxic MoldIs it just me or has all the rage and hub bub over asbestos, termites and toxic mold gone somewhere, swept under the rug. I know the stuff still exists, I know we all couldn't have stayed at Holiday Inn last night. It wasn't too long ago that one of the biggest hurdles we faced as Realtors was to get through the inspection without there being any indication of any of these deal killing monsters. That seemed to be especially true while I was working in California, the mecca of toxic mold and … (3 comments)
