Your Business is Up in the Air, or your Head is in the Clouds....Any of you that know me, know that I am an absolute nut about small jets. Often enough now I have to drive over to York Pa, from my little Gettysburg Pa,  and I pass the York airport. I have been lucky enough numerous times to catch a jet parked or seeing one land. Gettysburg Pa has a small airport as well, however it cannot handle the small jets. So when I go through and see a jet, it is a pleasant surprise. This time on my journey … (5 comments)

Early  in 1864 President Abraham Lincoln was invited to speak at the newly created Soldiers National Cemetary in Gettyburg Pa. Honoring both Union and Confederate troops who had fought in the Battle of Gettysburg.

Former Secretary of State Edward Everett gave a two hour speech to the crowd of approximately 15,000. Then President took to the podium and with a "few appropriate remarks" was able to summarize the war un just ten sentences.

The Gettysburg Address is 147 Years Old Today

Today marks the 147th anniversary of the Gettysburg Address. Abraham Lincoln said in two minutes what Edward Everett failed to say in over 2 hours. After delievering the speech on November 19th 1863 at the dedication of the New National Cemetary Lincoln referred to the speech as a "flat failure".

Take a moment to read the text and I think we can all agree, on that point Mr.Lincoln was wrong.

On February 12, 2009 the boro of Gettysburg unveiled its newest gem. The collaboration of Main St Gettysburg, a local non profit organization, and the Gettysburg National Military Park has produced Gettysburg Pa’s Wills House Museum.
