I am very excited that Sacramento's first "Second Saturday" of 2009 is this weekend! For details, maps, vendor, and parking/shuttle info, I highly recommend visiting the MidtownGrid website's Second Saturday Art Walk page. For those of you who do not know, in midtown Sacramento on the second Saturday of every month, different local merchants and art galleries host reception-type events starting around 6pm. It is not uncommon to see things like local art exhibits, food and wine tasting, live music, fashion shows, and other special events. I have always had an amazingly fun time attending Second Saturday.

events: Sacramento Association of Realtors 100 Year Anniversary Centennial Gala - 11/15/08 03:11 AM

Last night, the Sacramento Association of Realtors celebrated its 100th Anniversary with a formal dinner event - the Centennial Gala. The SAR Centennial Committee and staff worked hard to put on a great event. All year long at our main meetings, we have enjoyed photos and memorabilia from years past, and last night we watched a pretty neat slide show. Pretty cool to see photos from earlier eras of other Realtors doing the same types of things we are doing today. Perhaps at the 200 year anniversary event, future SAR members will see goofy photos of me and get energized about … (2 comments)

events: Sacramento Area Farmer's Markets - 07/17/08 09:46 AM
I was in the downtown Sacramento area touring a new listing this week, when I noticed that there was a farmer's market going on in a nearby park. When I was finished touring the listing, I decided to check out the farmer's market for a bit. I had no idea that a farmer's market would be sooo crowed on a weekday at a downtown park. I suppose it makes sense, since the location was just a brief walk from many downtown business centers.I was speaking with one of the vendors, and he pointed me to the Certified Farmer's Markets of Sacramento … (1 comments)

events: Downtown Sacramento Partnership - 06/23/08 11:38 AM
Last Thursday I was able to see a presentation given by Michael Ault of the Downtown Sacramento Partnership regarding the initiatives, short-term, and long-term vision for our downtown areas. There is a lot of great stuff going on. When the DSP was first formed in 2001, its original goal was to initially "clean up" downtown in order to make way for development. The current mission of the DSP is to establish downtown Sacramento as the vibrant arts, entertainment, business and cultural destination of the Greater Sacramento Region through effective public-private collaboration for the benefit of residents, visitors and investors. How, you … (1 comments)

events: Young Professionals Council Fundraiser - 06/13/08 03:51 PM
I think I have mentioned in the past that I am a member of the Sacramento Association of Realtors "Young Professionals Council." In the midst of all the craziness in my schedule lately, the YPC put on a vendor fair at the end of May to raise money for the Loaves and Fishes' Mustard Seed school...if you do not know what Mustard Seed is, it is a school for homeless children. We raised over $3,300 from the vendors and attendees of the fair. SMUD actually donated $500 alone! Today, 3 other YPC members and I presented the co-directors of Mustard Seed … (0 comments)

If you have never participated in the self-guided tour of 5 homes decorated for the holidays, in East Sacramento - wow are you missing out on something really cool.  I remember going with my parents as a kid, and the homes were truly spectacular.  The homes, generally in the Fabulous 40's area, have been decorated for the holidays by some of Sacramento's top interior designers and florists.
