Baltimore area home sales continue to increase in 2013! Home sales in the Baltimore region increased over 17% from last year as a sellers market continues to trend. These numbers are being seen in Columbia, Ellicott City and other areas in Baltimore, Howard and the surrounding counties.

Is this really January? This past weekend the weather has been glorious in Central Maryland. Bright, sunny and a balmy 65+ degrees. Just a joy to be alive. Lucky for me I had 6 buyers this weekend all looking at homes. It was a pleasure to view sun filled properties in t-shirts. Some of the distressed properties were colder inside than the temperatures outside.Mother Nature also seems confused at the lack of Winter this year. Good news, however is that average days on market have decreased since last year. 71 homes went under contract in less than 30 days. During September the most expensive home in Howard County sold was 8516 EDENTON CT, FULTON, MD 20759, a 7 bedroom, 5 full and 2 half bath on 1.82 acres. Per the "Maryland Realtor" magazine, the Maryland Association of Realtors (MAR) was very happy with the successful outcome of the top legislation priorities that effect property ownership, real estate contracts and real estate licensing during the 90 day session. One Bill that was not passed was in reference to appraisals of real property in the State of Maryland. HB 42 - Appraisers - Knowledge of Value of Real Estate STATUS: DEFEATED Would have prohibited real estate appraisers from conducting an appraisal if the appraiser knew the asking price of the property being appraised.
