•  There are 76 million households in the US that own their home--24 million of these homes are owned free and clear,

dover nh: Dover NH Real Estate - October 2008 Market Update - 11/22/08 12:25 PM

Lawrence Yun, NAR chief economist noted in October that, "A trend away from subprime mortgages to FHA loans, which often carry much lower interest rates, is a positive development for consumers and the house market going forward.  Still, it will take some time for the change to yield a measurably higher closed sales volume in the aftermath of the subprime collapse.  In the near term, we expect home sales to remain fairly stable."  As real estate markets are local, here's what happened in the Dover market in October:

With this said I'm hoping you can do me a favor...if you hear of someone who might like to take advantage … (0 comments)

dover nh: Dover NH Real Estate - May 2008 Market Update - 06/15/08 03:03 AM

An important thing to keep in mind when it comes to real estate is that each and every town is different.  Depending on where you are in the country, one town can be thriving and the next can be in a slump.  This can also be true for large cities-certain sections of a city can be desirable...others not so much.  Please keep this in mind when you listen to the news.  The media is often giving you statewide or national market data and your home town is not the "national market".  With that said, let's see what's been going on in … (0 comments)

dover nh: Dover, NH Real Estate - April 2008 Market Update - 05/12/08 01:43 PM
The latest forecast by the National Association of Realtors (NAR) claims that existing-home sales are projected to trend up in 2008.  I definitely see that happening here in the Seacoast.  In fact, Lawrence Yun, Chief Economist for NAR was quoted recently saying, "The improvement in the Northeast reaffirms a trend apparent for some months now that shows signs of recovery, noteworthy because that was the first region to slump." Yes, he said did say improvement in the Northeast!
Let's check out what's been going on in Dover, NH.

dover nh: Dover NH Homes - March 2008 Market Update - 04/07/08 10:13 AM
You might not believe it, BUT, the National Association of Realtors stated recently that sales of existing homes rose to a 5.03 million annual rate in February which is an unexpected 2.9% increase.  Why?  The answer is that sales are being spurred by lower prices.  Falling prices improve affordability and encourage people to make purchases.
In addition, the number of new construction homes for sale dropped to 471,000 units (in the US) which is the smallest number of new construction homes on the market since July 2005.
Rising sales and lower prices have also stimulated the mortgage market.  Recent Federal Reserve actions … (2 comments)
