hampton roads: Tool reviews - 02/22/09 12:08 PM
Being a roofing and siding contractor in Hampton Roads, Virginia has given me a chance to use alot of different tools, so I figured I would share my opinion on the tools I've used.
Dollar Store Hammers and Screwdrivers
One day I was in the dollar store and I saw a hammer on the shelf. I thought, wow a hammer for a dollar, you can't beat that. I bought the hammer to keep in my truck as a backup. Then one day I was doing a gutter repair and realized I left my hammer on another job. I grabbed my handy dollar … (0 comments)

Aside from spending money to save money and the earth, there are a ton of things you can do in everyday life. Below are some things you already know and some you may not. The most important thing to remember is keeping a green mind set. If you throw one aluminum can in the garbage it's not going to send the earth flying off its axis but it will start to take you out of your green mind set. First it's only one can then two then soon your not recycling cans at all.
Try to incorporate these … (0 comments)

hampton roads: Inspect your own roof - 02/08/09 01:42 PM
Inspecting your own roof is fairly simple. Stand back far enough in your yard to see your roof. Depending on the pitch of the roof you may need to stand across the street or in your neighbors yard. You may also need a pair of binoculars to get a closer look at your shingles.
The shingles on your roof should be sitting nice and flat with no bubbles, raised areas, curling shingles or missing shingle tabs. Also look at all of your flashing and vents to make sure it is all sitting flat with no exposed or rusting nails. If your … (0 comments)

The pure vinyl trim wrap comes pre-moulded so it's not applicable in all situations and is rarely used by contractors and trim mechanics. The other two types can be bent to any shape so they are very versatile. Out of the three types, the vinyl covered aluminum is my … (2 comments)

                                                        Siding types, advantages and disadvantages.
There are several types of siding you can choose for your house including but not limited to wood, vinyl, masonite and cement board.

Wood siding was the main choice for many years simply because it was the only choice. Before all the new material began to emerge most homes were sided in either a clapboard or shingle type siding.
