quotes for business and life: Quotes for Life - Elvis Presley - 75th Birthday Today - 01/08/10 12:48 AM
It's the king's birthday today.  He would have been 75.  Here are a few of his quotes.  He may not have said anything profound like Aristotle or George Washington, but he was a down to earth person that understood what was going on in his life.  Unfortunately, he just couldn't cope with it all.
Adversity is sometimes hard upon a man; but for one man who can stand prosperity, there are a hundred that will stand adversity. - Elvis Presley
Ambition is a dream with a V8 engine. - Elvis Presley

quotes for business and life: A Relevant Voice From the Past - Aristotle - 01/04/10 02:26 AM
It always amazes me when I find quotes from 100, 1000 or 2,000 years ago that are so applicable to how we live today.  If only we could put more of them to practice each day.
All virtue is summed up in dealing justly. - Aristotle
A great city is not to be confounded with a populous one. - Aristotle
Bring your desires down to your present means. Increase them only when your increased means permit. - Aristotle
All human actions have one or more of these seven causes: chance, nature, compulsions, habit, reason, passion, desire. - Aristotle

Anyone who proposes to do good must not expect people to roll stones out of his way, but must accept his lot calmly if they even roll a few more upon it. - Albert Schweitzer

quotes for business and life: Quotes to Live by with George Burns - 12/27/09 10:45 PM
I like to take a break from the normal reading, and I to do that I like to read quotes.   Today I stumbled upon some funny stuff from George Burns.  Even though it is funny, what he said is so very true.  He just does it from a different perspective.
"When I was young I was called a rugged individualist. When I was in my fifties I was considered eccentric.  Here I am doing and saying the same things I did then and I'm labeled senile." - George Burns
"Actually, it only takes one drink to get me loaded. Trouble is, I can't … (1 comments)

quotes for business and life: Quotes to Start the Week from Socrates - 12/27/09 10:31 PM
When you think about these quotes and realize they are 2,000 year old, you wonder if it is a reflection of time or mankind.  I love the one about children as tyrants.  Some things never change.
If all misfortunes were laid in one common heap whence everyone must take an equal portion, most people would be contented to take their own and depart. - Socrates
Be slow to fall into friendship; but when thou art in, continue firm and constant. - Socrates
Our prayers should be for blessings in general, for God knows best what is good for us. - Socrates

quotes for business and life: Quotes for Business and Life - Sunday, December 27, 2009 - 12/26/09 11:12 PM
"Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might."Ecclesiastes 9:10How much simplier does it get? 12 words that sum up a lot of what is expected of us and all that we can expect from ourselves. Unfortunately, too many people look for short cuts or they cut corners or worse, figure out ways to make it look like something it is not. If we would only take the time to do things right, without cheating, making up new rules, bending the rules or doing things that we know will be harmful down the road to ourselves and others.

quotes for business and life: Quotes for Life and Business - Longfellow - 12/25/09 09:03 PM
We judge ourselves by what we feel capable of doing, while others judge us by what we have already done. - - Henry WadsworthIf we could read the secret history of our enemies, we should find in each man's life, sorrow and suffering enough to disarm all hostility. - Henry Wadsworth LongfellowIf you would hit the mark, you must aim a little above it: Every arrow that flies feels the attraction of earth. - Henry Wadsworth LongfellowIn this world, a man must either be anvil or hammer. - Henry Wadsworth LongfellowInto each life some rain must fall, some days must be … (2 comments)

quotes for business and life: Prince William Sleeps with the Homeless - 12/23/09 03:56 AM
Yes, Prince William spent a night sleeping on the streets in the bitter cold to experience what the homeless go through day after day.  His mother Princess Diana was active with the group, Centerpoint, helping the homelsss and others that are down on their luck.
Three cheers for Prince William.  Can you imagine the difference we would see if all of our Senators, Congressman, Governors, ObamaRamaLama Administration and corporate executives did something like this.  The problem would be solved immediately.
At this time of giving, we should be giving our time, respect and resources to those that need our help

quotes for business and life: Quotes for Business and Life - December 20, 2009 - 12/20/09 02:15 AM
"Keep your tongue from evil and your lips from speaking deceit." - Psalm 34:13I love it when I find such simple quotes that speak volumes.  Our tongue is probably one of the most destructive parts of our body.  I've read posts about agents being trashed by other agents.  That's the tongue . . . and the tongue engaging before the brain is turned on.  If we would just stop to think before speaking, our tongue would be better served for tasting and moving things around our mouth, instead of destroying things and people.

quotes for business and life: Mark Twain on Bankers, Statistics and Clothes - 12/14/09 07:45 AM
Today I'll share some of my favorite Mark Twain quotes. I think they apply to all of us in one way or another. And as with many famous quotes, we can learn a lot about ourselves and why things are the way the are around us. Then again, some of these quotes have double meaning for many.A banker is a fellow who lends you his umbrella when the sun is shining, but wants it back the minute it begins to rain. - Mark TwainA man cannot be comfortable without his own approval. - Mark TwainAlways do right. This will gratify some … (7 comments)

quotes for business and life: Quotes for Business and Life - Sunday, December 13, 2009 - 12/13/09 02:13 AM
When you think about the message below, many of you will realize we all covet something of our neighbor's, otherwise we would be more content with what we have. And for those of you that are content, I hope it is contagious to those that seem never to be content with what they have."You shall not covet your neighbor's house; you shall not covet your neighbor's wife or his male servant or his female servant or his ox or his donkey or anything that belongs to your neighbor."Exodus 20:17

quotes for business and life: Words of Wisdom from Groucho Marx - 12/08/09 10:30 PM
Every Wednesday I try to come up with quotes from someone famous that will make us think about our lives, our business, and maybe have a chuckle or two.  Personally, I think the first quote below applies to our politicians.  When you do something wrong, there are consequences.  A childe of five knows this, but our politicians seem to be immune from the consequences of turning our country over to the Banksters.  In fact, our politicians seem to operate on the last quote in the list below.
A child of five would understand this. Send someone to fetch a child of … (5 comments)

quotes for business and life: Sunday Quotes for Business and Life - December 6, 2009 - 12/05/09 11:58 PM
"I tell you that every careless word that people speak, they shall give an accounting for it in the day of judgment." - Matthew 12:36How many times do we speak without thinking, or say things in the heat of the moment, or say things we simply regret when we learn the facts.  I remember a sign in a friend's kitchen . . . "Make sure brain is engaged before running mouth."  I'll never forget that, but I sure wish I could remember it every now and then when my mouth is running, but my brain is not engaged.

quotes for business and life: Quotes for Business and Life - Sunday, November 29, 2009 - 11/28/09 09:32 PM
"A joyful heart is good medicine, but a broken spirit dries up the bones." - Proverbs 17:22
When things are tough you need to remember this one.  Just think about the times when stress simply saps the energy out of you.  Try to think of something that you know will cheer you up.  It is easier said than done at times, but it always works.  The hard part is staying focused on a joyful heart, but once you master that, you've won your game.

quotes for business and life: Sunday - Quotes for Business and Life - 11/21/09 09:38 PM
"By wisdom a house is built, and by understanding it is established; and by knowledge the rooms are filled with all precious and pleasant riches." - Proverbs 24:3-4Some people only seek the almight dollar and getting one step ahead at all costs.  But it really boils down to wisdom, and then having the understanding to put that wisdom to use.

quotes for business and life: Sunday Message - Doing What is Right - 11/14/09 10:52 PM
To do what is right and just is more acceptable to the LORD than sacrifice. - Proverbs 21:3
I'm amazed at how many times a day I see people doing things that are simply "not right," yet in many cases, it is their daily modus operandi.  I shake my head when dealing with some agents and brokers, because they come up with such creative ways to twist and bend things, when it is so simple . . . do the right thing.
