kingston: OLD AGENTS AND ICEBERGS - 09/10/09 05:07 AM
Picture it . . .  the elders of the real estate community placed on ice flows to drift away from civilization!

How many of you opened this post hoping to read that this was now the official plan to rid your market of these seasoned salespeople?  NO, that is not my wish nor the intent of this post even tho I've read many comments that come close to this concept recently :0)
This morning as I was enjoying a glass of ice water, and I was again reminded, looking at the glass, that we only see 10% of the ice … (1 comments)

kingston: Another Reason Susan Emo Doesn't Like Doing Open Houses ! - 09/10/09 02:37 AM
Another reason I don't like doing Open Houses!
It is so important that Sellers understand why Open Houses are not the way forward with regard to getting their home sold.  This post of Tina's states very clearly why a re-think is required on the part of Sellers and their agents.  Thanks Tina!

Via Tina Allen (Exit Realty Tri-County):
It's a question we get from most sellers, "Can we do an open house?"  I cringe everytime I am asked that.  I do not care for Open Houses and just finished reading another news article … (0 comments)

kingston: A DIFFERENT TWIST ON PIZZA - 09/07/09 05:24 AM
We had a luncheon at our office this week and I supplied a fabulous pizza - YUM YUM (if I do say so myself!)    Especially good for those of you who have outgrown the traditional pizza combos!  We ate mine far too quickly to capture it on film so this is a reasonable facsimile :0)    I melted my cheese more and the onions weren't so caramelized but other than that -  Yum!

[I doubled this recipe but kept the blue cheese at only 8 oz and it was more than enough so feel free to cut it in half.  The doubled … (4 comments)

kingston: I'M IN "BACK TO SCHOOL MODE" & I DON'T EVEN HAVE KIDS! - 09/07/09 05:11 AM
~Susan Emo, Kingsotn,Gananoque, 1000 Islands, Ontario~
Are you like me and the 'New Year' begins the first Tuesday after Labour Day?  TOMORROW!!!!

It's  a brand new school year and the fever hits me every time unlike when I was a child,  and I dreaded having to say goodbye to my fun-filled summer.  I get so excited and invigorated just thinking about it now.  The adrenaline is flowing and I'm actually excited about going to buy new pens, markers, folders, etc.   How sad is that?  And don't get me started about getting that new fall wardrobe!!!!  Whoo Hooo!
I did mention that I … (2 comments)

kingston: SALSA SEASON AGAIN! - 09/07/09 05:07 AM
Kingston, Gananoque, 1000 Islands Region
It is tomato season again here in Canada and I would like to make some tasty salsa to save for the winter months when tomatoes have all the flavour of wood!

Do you have a tasty recipe you could share?  Or possibly you have a chili sauce or spaghetti sauce recipe you would be kind enough to pass on?
Thanks,

BODY PARTS GO MISSING
GANANOQUE, ONTARIO:  Organ Thieves
"You've heard about people who have been abducted and had their kidneys removed by black-market organ thieves.  Well.... My thighs were stolen from me during the night a few years ago. I went to sleep and woke up with someone else's thighs. It was just that quick. The replacements had the texture of cooked oatmeal. Whose thighs were these and what happened to mine?

kingston: TOUR GUIDE OR REALTOR?? - 10/15/08 01:28 PM
TOUR GUIDE OR REALTOR??
There are days when I feel the public just doesn't understand what we do or why we do it.  From the people who just want to tour Open Houses to the ones that can't grasp the concept of a Buyer's Representation Agreement.
Of course we love nothing more than to spend hours showing people through listing after listing to have them decide they're just not ready or worse, go back to their brother-in-law or Auntie to prepare an offer for them.   NOT!  If I never hear the words "we want to sleep on it" again, … (0 comments)

kingston: The ABC's of Real Estate Marketing - 10/15/08 01:25 PM
The ABC's of Real Estate Marketing
Do you     Does someone you know :0)  operate their Real Estate business like this:
a)  Advertise themselves (usually with their facial photo where someone can sit on it)
b)  Bang a For Sale sign into the ground (on that special angle that makes others cringe)
c)  Create an ad for the paper (maybe run it if they had a deal close that week)
d)  Download the listing onto the local MLS (no other sites of course, that would take too much time)
e)  Encourage their office to show it ("come on, I showed your mobile … (0 comments)

kingston: THE 3 R's of Real Estate - 10/15/08 01:21 PM
THE 3 R's of Real Estate
The 3 R's of Real Estate are not Reading, Riting and Rithmetic.  For me they stand for:
RELAX
RELATE
REPLACE

The first one is all to do with emotion, ours!   In real estate, like in life, we can feel we have been mistreated, disrespected and used.   Some days more than others!  And maybe rightfully so!!  However, as professionals, we need to get over it quickly and put some steps in place to prevent it happening again.  As the old saying goes;  Fool me once, shame on you.  Fool me twice, shame on me!   … (0 comments)

kingston: WIN YOUR SPOUSE; S SUPPORT! - 10/15/08 01:16 PM
AND HAVE THEM LOVE YOUR CAREER!
Sadly the rate of divorce is ever climbing and in the Real Estate business it is horrifying!  We are near the top of professions where divorce is highest.   But really, it isn't surprising when a Realtor is just starting out.  You live and breathe real estate.  It is all you think about and unfortunately, all you speak about too!  If you've been in the business awhile, you can most likely share your own story about what maks and breaks a relationship in this business!                                                                                                            (I will apologize upfront as this is written from a female's … (0 comments)

Who I Am Makes a Difference
"One Person can make a difference - and every person must try"
~ John F. Kennedy
"When two or more people come together in the spirit of harmony ...it's like putting LIGHTNING in a Bottle!  The Teddy Stallard story and the Blue Ribbon story have the capacity to reach out to people to make a huge difference in all humanity. We must be the difference we want to make."

kingston: The Tongue is like a Razor: You can do good or cut someone with your words! - 10/15/08 12:55 PM
"The tongue is like a razor;   you can do good or cut someone with your words"  ~Author unknown.
Contrary to the esteemed Dr Freud's theory that the primary human drives are to seek pleasure and to avoid pain,  I believe what we want most is to find happiness and to find meaning or purpose.  We want to know that we have lived fully and experienced joy with a deep feeling of contentment.  Country singer, Tim McGraw's song comes to mind:  "To Live Like You are Dying".    Happiness is about the moments in our lives and the meaning or purpose is about … (6 comments)
