pets: Thankful Thursday, 10/6/11 - 10/06/11 01:16 PM

I was working on my computer at my home office yesterday and felt a hand on my back. When I turned, I realized it was our "Little Girl Cat", Dani.  The touch on my back was startling because I was alone at the time, but seeing this little face looking for a little loving made me realize it was the perfect time to take a break from work.  What better way to do that than to cuddle an animal, walk a favored dog or have a cup of tea with a friend.

pets: Do you want to feel loved when you come home? Get a dog! - 04/09/11 10:45 AM
JJ is our family dog, a small cock-a-poo.  He's 20 pounds of pure love and affection and truly the nicest man I know.
There are several buses through our neighborhood every afternoon and somehow JJ always knows exactly which bus Max is on.  He starts to whine as soon as the bus passes our house and will continue to do so until I let him out.  Then, he stands there and wiggles for all he's worth; looking back at me to make sure I'm participating in the welcoming parade.  It's one of the highlights of my day, and I'm sure … (29 comments)

I had always had at least one or two cats growing up, and I had always assumed, upon getting married, that I would have at least that many cats and a dog.  My two cats that I had when I was single died shortly before I married and I entered into a state of wedded bliss without any pets. What a shock it was to me to learn that my husband didn't want a dog or a cat.  Forget two cats, he didn't want animals in the house.  He is in the carpeting … (29 comments)

pets: Smokey and the Bandit, Part 2.... The Rest of the Story - 09/29/09 05:37 AM
My friend Denise lost her beloved beagle, Buddy this year.  As luck would have it, her loving cat Pepper passed away a few days before Denise and Chip, her husband, were taking their only child Matt to college!  Talk about an empty nest.  I wrote about how good things happen to good people, and that Denise, a very good person, had adopted a lovely little kitty named Bandit.  Denise strongly felt that Bandit needed a playmate, and while taking Bandit for an emergency veterinary appointment, she found out that they had a kitten who would shortly be ready for adoption.
