Tonight is the first of this year's Summer Concerts in the Park, down at Riverside Gardens Park in Red Bank. For years, this was an old run down apartment building, long past it's day. Then we watched as workers demolished the old structure and carved out terraces and ampitheater facing the Navesink River. It's a beautiful day in Fair Haven, so I thought I'd share a few favorite photos that I've taken of the river. Fair Haven is a small town on the Navesink River, right between Red Bank and Rumson, known for it's picturesque neighborhoods with picket fences and small town atmosphere. It's a town where kids walk to top rated schools and ride their bikes to friends' houses. When the kids are a little older, they're off on bikes to sail or ride into Red Bank to see a movie. July 3rd is just about my favorite day of the year in Red Bank when the town hosts the largest fireworks display in the state of New Jersey. Here are two videos of the fireworks, courtesy of Q 104.3 radio. The first video is God Bless America - the second, Beethoven's 1812 Overture. During the 1812 Overture, watch for a fireworks image of the orchestra's cymbals crashing. It's brilliant.
