camping: Colorado Kids Outdoor Bill of Rights

Colorado is one of the fittest states in the nation! Until 2012 the obesity rate (measured in BMI averages) was under 20.0 - now it is 20.7! Not much of a change, but.... We need to keep our Colorado folks fit AND happy, and the best way to start is with kids! By creating healthy and fun habits but even more important fond memories of outdoor trips with family - we will create adults that love the outdoors as well. We were without the boys this summer of 2011. We had sent our 12 and 16 year old to Germany to be with their German family and get to know the country as well as the language. No boys? Strange. All of a sudden our family was so much smaller. We enjoyed some special time with our daughter Anna. Why not explore Colorado enjoy the beauty it offers through the window of our suburban? We had visited Vail, Aspen, Salida before, but it was always to participate in a race.... Finally, we could actually stay, look, experience. … (6 comments)
camping: Camping and Tubing at Tarryall Creek in Colorado

We had the son of a friend living in Germany with us here in Colorado to visit for 2 weeks. We didn't get to go camping last weekend so we wanted to make sure that we went to our favorite spot this weekend: Tarryall.I am a little sad to see that the days have gotten a bit chillier. This also means summer camping is over soon. Regardless, we will squeeze a few more camp trips out of this year and the trees will change their colors shortly, which is a spectacle in itself. .....but back to Tarryall Creek.The chill makes it … (6 comments)
