trip: Exploring Colorado: Video-Impressions Vail, Aspen, Salida
- 08/27/12 11:11 PM
We were without the boys this summer of 2011. We had sent our 12 and 16 year old to Germany to be with their German family and get to know the country as well as the language. No boys? Strange. All of a sudden our family was so much smaller. We enjoyed some special time with our daughter Anna. Why not explore Colorado enjoy the beauty it offers through the window of our suburban? We had visited Vail, Aspen, Salida before, but it was always to participate in a race.... Finally, we could actually stay, look, experience. (6 comments)
trip: Black Canyon of the Gunnison a well kept secret

So you didn't make it to the Grand Canyon this year, how about something closer to home but still impressive? Take the Black Canyon of the Gunnison. The canyon located between Gunnison and Montrose and is in total 48 miles long and about 9 miles wide. Of those 48 miles 14 miles are protected as a National Park. I thought it was interesting that this only happened in 1999. Before that it was 'only' a National Forrest. There is a 7 mile scenic route with several outlooks at the top. Its not as crowded as the Grand Canyon, smaller, but still breath taking. (5 comments)
Colorado Springs is such a beautiful place and I am blessed to live and work here . Would you like to know more about Colorado Springs? Are you interested in the different neighborhoods? School districts? Do you own or rent? Please don't hesitate to contact me and I will be happy to answer any questions you might have.
If you have questions about Ft. Carson or Peterson Air Force base I'll have answers for you as well. We retired in 2012, which actually seems like yesterday, and prior to that I owned a very popular blog that specifically dealt only in PCSing! Just contact me via email, FB or Twitter, I will get back with you as soon as I can.
