email challenge: email challenge: I have to sell my home in order to buy another. What do I do? - 02/11/11 11:19 AM
One question I get, sometimes by email and sometimes by phone or in person, concerns the paralysis some people feel when they want or need to buy a new home but they're afraid to look for fear they'll fall in love with a house and theirs hasn't been sold.  Or they're afraid to list their home for sale before they have found their new home for fear they'll end up homeless.
Here is a sample of the kind of questions I get:
I want to buy a larger home because we are already crowded and now my elderly father is going … (6 comments)

email challenge: email challenge: What are buyer's closing costs and what are they for? Commissions? - 02/11/11 07:02 AM
Recently I got an email from a potential first time buyer who was hesitant to start househunting because of warnings she had received from friends about how expensive it is to buy.  Here is part of her email:

I have looked at your website and I have seen your signs around town and I have a friend … (12 comments)

One question I get frequently in the winter is typified by this email from a seller (this person wasn't yet my client at the time, but subsequently retained me after FSBOing didn't work for her):
It is expected to be another weekend of heavy rain and wind and very cold weather.  Friends have suggested an open house, but what agent would show property in this weather?  As for buyers,  I don't think anyone would go to an open house in the rain.  What do you think?
Yes, today is another week of heavy rain and wind and cold weather.  Who would show property … (3 comments)
