sacramento association of realtors: Salvation Army is the best, and I'm so happy to be on the CanTree Committee! - 02/03/12 02:44 PM

Salvation Army is the best!
As many of you may know, I work on the CanTree Committee of the Sacramento Association of Realtors, obtaining donations and putting on functions and events to raise money, all of which goes to the Salvation Army to feed needy families in our area.
In December we had a big celebration and presented the Salvation with $76,000 that we had raised through 2011. They thanked us at that time and we were happy and pleased to be able to raise money for such a wonderful organization.
Despite the fact that we needed no further thanks, … (8 comments)

sacramento association of realtors: December's Season of Celebrations and Sharing - Christmas food and toys for the needy - 12/22/11 02:57 PM

December 21: Today was the big payoff for the year of fundraising for the Salvation Army (You may have been reading my blog posts about the CanTree committee of the Sacramento Association of Realtors).  I was fortunate to have the opportunity to participate in the distribution of toys and food for the holidays to families in need.  It all took place at Cal Expo – our state fairgrounds.
Thank you to my fellow members of the CanTree Committee, but also to all the members of the Sacramento Association of Realtors who bought raffle tickets at all of our realtor meetings and … (6 comments)

sacramento association of realtors: December 6 – Christmas CanTree Presentation to Salvation Army - Season of Celbrations and Sharing - 12/06/11 04:16 PM

My 2011 December Challenge – Presentation to Salvation Army
December 6:   Today was the Sacramento Association of Realtors big Christmas CanTree dedication and celebration.  It was a lot of fun, with a delicious catered breakfast, lots of wonderful raffle prizes including an iPad2, a couple of Kindles, a Yamaha keyboard, a guitar, theme baskets, power tools, and lots of other great loot – all donated.
Sacramento County Supervisor Roberta McClashan lit the SAR Christmas tree,  and I had an opportunity to thank her for her service to Fair Oaks (due to redistricting, she has had Fair Oaks cut from her … (4 comments)

sacramento association of realtors: How building a huge tree of cans can help thousands - 11/22/11 03:50 PM

So have you seen those huge Christmas trees made of cans of food in Sunrise Mall in Citrus Heights or at the Secret Garden in Elk Grove?  Have you wondered what that was all about and how they were built?
I have been honored to work for some time on the Sacramento Association of Realtors Christmas CanTree Committee.  What we do is work all year to raise funds for our local Salvation Army to help feed needy families during the holidays.
All year long we hold fundraisers, gather donations of goods, services, money and food from generous area businesses and … (6 comments)

sacramento association of realtors: My Busy Saturday, Part 3: Can Tree Crab Fest - 02/10/11 04:39 PM
aturday evening was the third part of my busy Saturday.  After leaving lunch at the Rio City Cafe in Old Sacramento following a morning at the Railroad Museum, Jon and I hurried home so I could leave him off there.  I headed to the Folsom Community Center to help set up the Can Tree Crab Fest.
This was the second annual Crab Fest put on by the Can Tree Committee of the Sacramento Association of Realtors.  Perhaps you have seen a Christmas Can Tree in a shopping center near you during November and December.  In our area, that is built by … (0 comments)

sacramento association of realtors: Sacramento Association of REALTORS giving $2000 GRANTS to home buyers! - 08/11/10 02:47 PM
I am very excited about  ECO, a new program sponsored by the Sacramento Association of REALTORS® (SAR) that will benefit nearly all buyers of homes built before 1978 and in need of energy efficiency upgrades.
Most of us know about the Energy Efficient Mortgages, (EEMs) which can be added to an FHA loan for the purpose of installing energy upgrades to a home at the time of purchase.  The buyer does not need to separately qualify for these loans, but the proposed upgrades must be shown to save more in energy costs than they will cost to build.  This is accomplished … (11 comments)

sacramento association of realtors: Friday was my lucky day! - 09/20/09 12:21 PM
Friday was my lucky day!
Friday was the annual tech conference put on by the Sacramento Association of Realtors (SAR) and Metrolist (our MLS).  It is a one day conference with seminars, lunch, and a lot of great vendors showcasing their wares and services.  My husband (who is also a broker) and I attend every year and always get a lot from it in knowledge about new products and services, and great tips from the seminars.  Each of the vendors also has a fishbowl or basket in which they collect business cards.
Each time you visit a vendor during the day, … (4 comments)
