Offshore Boat Racing Returns to Solomons, MD September 14-16 - The Solomons Offshore Grand Prix returns for the third year September 14-16. Solomons comes alive with action giving fans the opportunity to see the fastest race boats in the world.
Hoping the weather will be better this year - but the racing can't be beat!

Calvert County Market update - First Quarter of 2011 - The Calvert County Real Estate Market is showing marked improvement for the first quarter of 2011 over the first quarter of 2010, particularly when considering the first-time homebuyer tax credit initiative was in place the first quarter of 2010 with the April 30, 2010 deadline looming.

A Solomons Sunrise and the Spring Market Unfortunately the sunrise on Solomons Island did not look like this this morning. It's rather rainy which I am sure will encourage the spring blossoms that are starting to pop. However, there are many mornings where the sunrise is just as beautiful as the recent sunrise here in this picture.

Calvert County Home Prices Improve - The September 2010 data confirms a gradual trend toward price improvement for Calvert County, MD. Cumulative average sales prices for 2010 were off over 30% since the peak prices of 2006 and off over 10% since year end 2009 in April. Data for May through September indicates over 5% improvement since the largest decline(-31.09%) from peak and since April's -10.31% decline from year end 2009. That improvement is also in a consistent range (-25.17- -26.53% since peak, -4.39 - -6.25% since year end 2009) reflecting stabilization and signs that point to the possibility that improvement can be sustained.

The "B" word is pretty rare in this island village. Solomons Island is located in southern Calvert County and the latest weather report map has this area designated as blizzard conditions for this Super Saturday. You wouldn't know it at the point this idylic picture was taken just as it was getting light - 10 inches of snow on the ground at the point this picture was taken, with predictions for up to 2 feet and winds in excess of 35 miles per hour.
