The City of Allen is located in Collin County, which is north of Dallas.  The city, just like many other cities in Collin County, has shown growth in many areas including the housing market.  Median home price in Allen in November 2016 was $305,000 and increased to $320,000 in November 2017.  There is no home under $150k.  45% of the homes are in the price range of $301k - $500k compared to 34.9% in November 2016, and average days on the market is 56 days compared to 45 days last year.

Statistics released in May by the U.S. Census Bureau shows that that six of the 15 fastest growing cities are in Texas, two are in Florida, and one each in Tennessee and South Carolina. The remaining fastest growing cities are in Idaho, Oregon, Arizona, Utah, and Iowa.
 
Two of the 15 fastest shrinking cities are in Oklahoma, while the remaining 13 cities are in different states in nearly every region of the country. While fast-growing cities tend to have strong economies and affluent residents, most of the shrinking cities tend to have relatively low median household incomes.

A LOT IN A FEW - Of the 524 bank failures that have occurred in the USA during the 10 years ending 6/30/17, more than half have occurred in just 4 states.  51% of the total bank failures (269) have taken place in Georgia (92), Florida (72), Illinois (65) and California (40).  9 US states had zero bank failures in the last 10 years (source: Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation).  
 
CUT IN HALF - There were 6.98 million out-of-work Americans as of 7/31/17.  There were 14.60 million out-of-work Americans as of 7/31/09 (source: Department of Labor).

This year’s Tax Free Weekend is Aug. 11 - 13. Just like in previous years, the law exempts clothing, shoes, and school priced less than $100 from sales tax, which could save shoppers about $8 on every $100 they spend.

It’s basically applies to back to school items but can be confusing as some items are tax free and some are not. You may want to check the link below before starting on your shopping spree:

texas: Collin County June 2017 Market Report - 07/20/17 02:14 PM
Listings increased by 17.4% in June 2017 compared to June 2016.  Closed sales increased 8.7% and average sales price increase 6.6%.  Median sales price increased 7.9% and months supply of inventory is 3 months.  Days on the market until sale actually increased in June 2017 compared to June 2016 to 32 days from 29 days.  Overall it is a very strong seller’s market in Collin County.

Often people ask me where to go when they come and visit the Dallas area.  Whether they can find places to enjoy and look around.  Well there are tons of places to visit and enjoy in Dallas Metroplex.  If you are in North Dallas then one of my favorite places to visit is in Plano at the Shops at Legacy.  It is located between Parkwood and Legacy Drive. Governor Abbott signed into law a measure that bans texting while driving effective September 1.
 
The bill prevents drivers from texting while their car is moving. Violators face a misdemeanor charge and a fine between $25 to $99, although penalties could be as much as $200 for repeat offenders.
 
Under the future law, Texas drivers could still talk on the phone while driving.  They need to have a hands-free device or blue tooth that only requires them to briefly touch the phone or use the car to begin or end a call.  It would not be a violation for a Texas drivers to … (11 comments)
