In the late 1800s Avondale was a just a stop on the way to the west coast gold rush. Fast forward to 2006 and this city of more than 70,000 offers International NASCAR racing, Festivals, and all the amenities you would expect from a thriving community. The official founder of Avondale, William "Billy" G. Moore, arrived in Arizona in the late 1860s, putting down stakes near the Agua Fria River around 1880.
