Certified International Property Specialist (CIPS) has become the next target designation. Coupled with the CLHMS, it expands the upper tier market niche to exotic overseas destinations, as well as opening the door to working with buyers from overseas. The EURO / US Dollar exchange rate being very favorable to the Europeans right now, as is the UK £ / US $ exchange rate favors the British, the prices on U.S. second and vacation home properties is particularly attractive, especially to avid golfers who seem to be swooping in to take advantage of bargains in Florida and Arizona. OK - so today I'm on a UK Real Estate kick for some reason. Did you know that in the UK there is no requirement for a license or any educational curriculum to follow? NAR published an article that comments on this as well as the large difference in commission structures between the US and the UK. Interesting reading. What I can't figure out is how some of the big Franchisors (RE/MAX for example) do business in a country where the industry really isn't regulated. How does that all work?
