real estate: Buying New Construction? Don't stand alone. - 07/12/17 08:23 AM
I have had this question, really posed as more of a statement, many times over my 20+ years in the real estate industry.  It goes like this.  "We saw a model home over the weekend and it was beautiful.  The agent there showed me everything.  They asked if I had a real estate agent but since this is brand new, I didn't think I needed one, so I said no.  That's right; isn't it?"
I understand exactly how this scenario unfolds.  A family is out on a weekend, they see signs for model homes in a new community and they stop in … (1 comments)

real estate: My Pop Tart Realtor Moment / Susan Brown, Your Texas Connection, Keller Williams Realty - 10/15/09 02:45 AM
First of all, let me say that I know better.  I am NOT a Pop Tart Realtor.  But I was one last Thursday.  Let me confess what happened.
10 AM Thursday - I get a phone call from a potential buyer.  Let's call him Mr. B.  He found me online & needs a home in the next month.  I ask Mr. B if he is already working with a realtor; has he signed anything?  "No," Mr. B replies.  So, I get all the particulars.  I tell him I'll email the homes that match his needs and we can set up a tour.  I call … (6 comments)

real estate: Real Estate Blues / Susan Brown, Your Texas Connection, Keller Williams Realty - 08/25/09 04:11 AM
We've all been here.  A good majority of buyers "just want to see" what a house looks like.  It doesn't matter that it isn't in the correct price range or area they're looking at.  Or it doesn't have the features that meet their needs.  Or they do have a list - a list of 20 houses in one day.
There are features that really make a difference in one's home selection.  There are the "can't live withouts" as well as the "not a deal-breakers."  Keeping in mind that everyone's time is their most valuable asset, the best way I've found over the … (3 comments)

real estate: Houston is Hot! - Susan Brown, Your Texas Connection, Keller Williams Realty NE - 07/21/09 04:52 AM
It's that time of year again.  The time where the temperatures are in the balmy 90's - high 90's to be more precise.  As Frank Billingsley gives us the "feels like" temperatures and the possibility of "triple digits," my mind wanders a bit.  (Due to heat exhaustion?)
Can you really fry an egg on the sidewalk?
Apparently in theory you can but not really.  Huh?  Thanks to Everyday Mysteries you can read the entire explanation.  This is a website that brings you Fun Science Facts from the Library of Congress.  Great place to peruse in your spare time in the air … (3 comments)

real estate: Panera Bread Celebrates Three Years in Atascocita Texas - Congrats from Susan Brown, Your Texas Connection - 04/07/09 08:27 AM
It seems like just yesterday when Panera Bread came to Atascocita at 7041 FM 1960 East.  The smell of bagels - Asiago Cheese, Cinnamon Crunch, Dutch Apple, Chocolate Chip - was irresistible.  The customers began to form lines in the mornings.  That was three years ago this past February.
I spoke to Keith Isbell, the owner of Panera Bread, who is an Atascocita resident.  He said they were enjoying being a part of the Atascocita community.  In fact, he said that if anyone in the area ordered $50 or more from Panera - they'd deliver for only $5.  That is wonderful for lunch … (0 comments)

real estate: Olympic Fever Countdown - 08/05/08 02:23 AM
With only three days until the Opening Ceremony of the 2008 Beijing Oympic Games, I thought I'd brush up on my information about our United States team.  We have 596 athletes going to the games, 310 men and 286 women.  Of those athletes, 43 are from Texas.  You can check your state's representation on the 2008 Roster by State.  The LA Times has an article you don't want to miss in your preparation.
One athlete that really stands out to me is Dara Torres, our 41-year-old American swimmer that is competing in her FIFTH Olympics.  What an inspiration to all!  In … (1 comments)
