February has definitely been a busy and challenging month on many fronts. One day, in particular, I was feeling a bit overwhelmed when a song came on by Steven Curtis Chapman. "Love Take Me Over" immediately cheered me up with its great tune and filled my heart with peace as I was reminded by the lyrics Who needs to be in charge of my days, weeks, and months - minute by minute. That's as true in your neck of the woods as it is here in Pierce County, Washington.

Washington is a state of many lovely and intriguing wonders - from the tall evergreens that give Washington its nickname of the evergreen state to the stately and majestic mountains, including the one we see from all over Pierce County - Mt. Rainier. 
Those wonders don't stop at inanimate objects either. There are plenty of delightful critters all around us. Geese - LOTS of geese - are a regular and enjoyable sight when driving through Lakewood, Steilacoom, and areas around JBLM (Joint Base Lewis McChord). I drive through the Snoqualmie Pass in the state of Washington periodically when heading towards Idaho. It's a long but lovely drive however I never leave the main road to go explore. My senior mom went with me on one trip and loved it but probably won't go again for awhile. So when I saw this gorgeous photo and fascinating story of the history of this area, I just had to share it with her and with y'all.
