humor: Let Me Tell You 'Bout my First Place Karaoke Contest - 06/13/17 01:25 PM
An article caught my eye yesterday when receiving a new issue of REALTOR Mag, and I felt led to comment. (i.e. blog)  The Story was titled, "8 Ways to Make Yourself a More Likable Agent"

Heh, heh...figured it wouldn't hurt to read it, right?
I thought I'd comment on a few of them, below.
#1 Use people's names repeatedly. Someone confessed a few years ago she just calls everyone "darlin" because then that way it didn't matter if she didn't remember their names. Hmmmmm
#2 Let other people speak first. Well now this made me think of furniture store shopping where they follow … (3 comments)

humor: Mother's Day Advice 2014 - 05/11/14 03:11 PM
Mother's Day Advice 2014
As the mother of three farm boys, and one lovely daughter several years later, I sometimes have the good fortune to come across something I feel duty bound to pass on to my children as sage advice.
Today I had the pleasure to take my mother on a 325 mile road trip to visit rural parts of Southern Arizona, and we passed this tidbit:

Yep, that deserved a quick u-turn and a jump out of the car with my camera.  I couldn't wait to get home to email it on to my kids, 35, 33, 30, … (5 comments)

humor: A Picture Says a Thousand Words - 11/04/13 01:52 PM
A Picture Says a Thousand Words
Ever go to one of those improve theatres where the players are handed a paper bag full of items donated from the office, they pull an item out, and begin saying gag one-liners?  I really admire that talent, and some times wish I could be so funny.
I was going through my photos tonight, weeding out the unused and poor quality photos, when I came across some I wish I could compose a funny caption for.
What do you think?  Can you add a few one-line zingers to the photos below?

humor: Working with a Partner - 07/31/13 04:36 AM
Working with a Partner
Ever notice that teamwork can often make the difference between success and failure?  Or, more specifically, between getting something done, or not.  An accountability partner can have an impact on whether you meet your business or personal goals.

Take blogging.  I have to say I'm never really alone when I sit down to write a post for Active Rain.

Or how about eating/dieting.  Everyone knows that there's a stronger chance for success when you have an accountability partner.  Look at mine...always willing to take up the scraps so I don't feel that urge to clean … (4 comments)

humor: Laughter Makes the Work Load Lighter - 01/11/13 09:18 AM
My son opened me up to discovering more about Richard Armour today, by sharing one of his "favorites":
"Shake and shake
the catsup bottle
first none'll come
and then a lot'll "
Oh my gosh that hit my funny bone.
I went online to discover the author and found another I'm in total agreement with:
"Nothing attracts
the mustard from wieners
as much as the slacks
just back from the cleaners"
All of this began when my daughter came home from school with a funny t-shirt:

...A very nice ending to a challenging, busy week.  :)

humor: The Roller-Coaster Days of Real Estate - 12/15/12 12:23 AM
The Roller-Coaster Days of Real Estate
Real estate is somewhat of a roller-coaster business.  You can experience the joys of closing, the agony of a buyer walking in your short sale listing, a wild appraisal, and more...all in one day.
I try to remain detached, but it's really hard.  I care about my clients, and how their experience proceeds.  It's my goal to make this process as easy and stress-free as possible, but let's face it...buying or selling a home is one of the biggest transactions of your life...and emotions do get involved.

Sometimes, I get several pieces of bad … (5 comments)

Can you Put A Caption On These Photos???
A few weeks back I was helping some investor-clients of mine find some promising fix-and-flip opportunities.
You never really know what you'll find in some of the properties, and a sense of humor when purchasing distressed and/or low-priced properties is a MUST!
Here's what we came across when walking through one home ...  look closely...

This is a "solid" wall in a bedroom.
Here's a close-up:

Ya' 'spose someone had a fight???!!!

Rattlesnake time in Tucson AZ
Spring is here and the snakes are waking up.  Visitors and residents need to take extra care when going out and about.
There are blue ones...

and red ones....

(This one actually says HSSSS but was going by so fast....)
Seriously, they ARE waking up...you can read more about the dangers and preventative measures regarding Rattlesnakes here: LIFE in TUCSON: It's About that Rattlesnake Time Again!
When you hear the HISSSSS, watch out!!!

Oh...the Places You'll Go - House-Hunting With a Sense of Humor!
I was inspired this morning by Gabrielle's blog, "Winner, Winner, Chicken Dinner".  She was wittily sharing some of her adventures in house hunting this weekend, and her visual descriptions had me thinking of Dr. Seuss and his book, "Oh the Places You'll Go"!

It isn't a book about house hunting, it's about setting out in your life, making changes, decisions, and the travels that you take along the way.  (GREAT graduation present)
It starts out this way:
"Congratulations!
Today is your day.
You're off to Great Places!

And They Say The Real Estate Market is "Soft"!

They say everyone's a critic, but if you ask me, this looks like a great advertisement for soft.  Unfortunately, you can't see the brand, or I'd send it in to them for an endorsement of their product!
Concerned about the real estate market in Tucson?  Wanting to buy or sell a home in Tucson, AZ?  Looking for homes for sale Tucson?  Wondering if the holidays are a good time to list your home?
If you've got the questions, I've got some answers.  Let's find a cushy soft chair and talk!

humor: A Five Star Day - 12/08/11 03:57 AM
A Five Star Day

My mother called yesterday morning to tell me that the newspaper said it was a five star day for me.  (I am assuming she read some horoscope thing...)
During the course of the day I gussied up one of my listings, attended the TAR Charity Foundation meeting for 2012 fundraising ideas, got an offer on one of my listings, and had the handyman over.
Seems we need a new dishwasher, and a new kitchen faucet.
Doesn't sound all that five star to me...
Today she called again to tell me it's ANOTHER five star day.

humor: Happy Halloween! It's Fun to Be A Kid - 10/31/11 03:23 AM
It's Fun to Be A Kid

Yesterday I held an Open House and was pleased to be able to forego my usual dress and heels for skulls pants and a cape. :)  I passed out treats and the visiting families enjoyed my participation...and the candy.

I stopped by In-N-Out on the way home to order a couple of burgers for my husband and I, and my daughter was surprised that I was wearing a cape...
Now come on!!  I have always been a little adventurous, especially in costume, and I simply said, "It's fun to be festive".

I'm Glad It's the Weekend
Ever get that feeling...

I think my warning light is flashing.
I gave my loan officer "partner" a lecture yesterday about waiting to create another financing weblink page to my new listing - he was going to do it last night and I told him..."Take the weekend off - Do it Monday!"
Funny thing was when I sent him an acknowledgment thank you after the site sent me its "up and running" link a bit later on Friday night.
I got the message back from him:
     Stop looking at your blackberry.

humor: My First Open House Guest - 09/05/11 03:32 AM
My First Open House Guest
I had an open house this weekend and my very first visitor was already there when I opened up.
Unfortunately, as I was setting up my signs another car followed me in so I couldn't really "oust" the first guest.
Then, right on the heels of their departure, a FAMILY came in and then I really got worried my first guest was overstaying their welcome.
Sure, everyone was sort of glad to see the first guest, and all the visitors pulled out their camera to catch that celebrity shot, but deep down inside, I really wanted … (8 comments)

Watch where you Walk!!  Not-so-Speechless Sunday around Southern Arizona
Took a little trip West of Tucson this weekend, up to Kitt Peak Observatory for a tour with the family.  We came across this sign.
Had to laugh -- exactly where did they think pedestrians were crossing...to???

On another note, I posted this sign about a year ago and got a good chuckle.  It's ... brilliant...

There's a lot of dirt roads in NW Tucson and Marana, but the mountain views are terrific!  That's the Santa Catalina's from the west in the background.
And then there's my all time favorite … (3 comments)

humor: Pinocchio’s Favorite Day of the Year - 04/04/11 02:01 AM
Pinocchio’s Favorite Day of the Year

So today, for some reason, is "Tell a Lie" Day.
I don't know why.
Disclose, disclose, disclose.
I've always believed in honesty is the best policy, however if not dealing with a need for Real Estate Disclosure, the lie of omission can sometimes be helpful when people ask if you like their new haircut or outfit and you find it might be better just to say nothing at all...
So, I guess if you HAVE to lie, today is the day you have some defense for dishonesty, and you can always look forward to … (7 comments)

humor: Setting a Good Example - 01/16/11 04:02 AM
Setting a Good Example
I've posted before about my 15.5 year old driving. The Gift of a Fresh Perspective.  It's a big thing - getting your teen ready and able to sit behind the wheel on their own.  After all, we all want a safe, Healthy 2011.
In the Marana School District, driver's training classes are no longer required, and as my daughter's schedule is packed with advanced core classes, drama, music and online courses, the obvious choice was for my husband and I to teach her.
My husband is a retired NYPD, so I figured that's helpful.  And if not … (2 comments)

Drivers Training and Real Estate Licensees - The Gift of a Fresh Perspective

This weekend I took my daughter out "driving" quite a few times.  We went for the driver's permit on Friday and I wanted her to get plenty of time in.  In all, I think she logged about 75 miles.
I was watching her drive and navigate and adjust to traffic and conditions and I couldn't help but juxtapose it to myself when I was starting out in real estate not so many years ago...
Let's see if I can make my point clear to you:

The Weather and Our Moods
Have you felt "under the weather" lately?  Is your future looking "bright?"
Ever notice how we often pattern our outlook and emotions after the weather?  Take a look and see if you agree:

Blue skies ahead!

I'm wearing rose colored glasses!

“Once upon a midnight dreary, while I pondered weak and weary...” (Edgar Allen Poe)

Is it mostly cloudy or partly sunny?

I'm having an "aha" moment!

Don't rain on my parade  or..."When it rains, it pours"

It's always sunny somewhere!

humor: Change is A-Comin! - 09/29/10 04:40 AM
Change is A-Comin!
I read a great little post by Lou Ludwig today that got me thinking about the inevitability of change.  So, of course, I had to google about it and I thought I'd share some fun and some serious things I found!

To share a giggle or two:
"It is not necessary to change.  Survival is not mandatory."  ~W. Edwards Deming "I put a dollar in one of those change machines.  Nothing changed."  ~George Carlin"If you're in a bad situation, don't worry it'll change.  If you're in a good situation, don't worry it'll change."  ~John A.
