relocation: Location, Location, Location - 05/13/14 12:37 AM
Location, Location, Location

Upon arriving home to Marana from our two week vacation, we had a new resident on our property that had made her home on our front door.  Unfortunately, Mother bird lacked the foresight to think ahead when planning her "forever home".
We carefully moved the wreath to a nearby plant stand and propped it, and its three little gifts within.
When looking for the perfect spot for your own new house, keep in mind that location can be very important!
Another great tip to keep in mind is, as your family or lifestyle "grows", will you have enough room?

relocation: Thanksgiving Memories in Tucson, AZ - your Destination Location. - 11/21/12 10:03 PM
I remember my first Thanksgiving in Tucson, AZ very clearly.  It was 1998, and it was wet, cold, and snowy in my "home" town near Green Bay, WI.  My son and I flew down for a few days with Grandma and my sister Renee.
My first memory was the reaction my son had when we awoke.  Coming in to town in the dark, he had no idea what to expect. Up for an early morning walk, he was amazed at the misty view ahead of him on the street.

He was thinking Tucson was more like this:

My second … (0 comments)

relocation: Moonsoon Damage at Gladden Farms, Marana near Tucson, AZ - 07/16/12 03:46 AM
Moonsoon Damage at Gladden Farms, Marana near Tucson, AZ

Had one of those HOWING rain storms yesterday afternoon, complete with hail and high winds.  It seems the storm hit and the power went out, simultaneously.

Found out later that the power lines were down across Tangerine Farms Road.  Still are, as of 10:30 the next day.
After about an hour of candle-lit atmosphere in our rapidly heating home, we set off for nearby Tower Theatres and a big bucket of popcorn for dinner.

Monsoon season is here in Tucson - how do you cope with the power failures, … (6 comments)

relocation: Taking a Walk Among Spring Blooms in Marana - 03/05/12 11:11 PM
Taking a Walk Among Spring Blooms in Marana
Ahh, Spring.  Perhaps it seems doubly nice since our 5 day visit to Green Bay, WI, but to me, there's nothing like discovering new blooms and beauty when out for a daily walk.

Gladden Farms in Marana has miles of public pathways and bike trails, waterways filled with trees and shrubbery, and mountain views...but I find my eyes get drawn to the bright spots in folks' front yards.

I was able to get a bit of gardening done myself over the weekend, and am looking forwards to getting a bunch of … (3 comments)

relocation: What is the Difference Between Phoenix and Tucson? - 01/31/11 03:28 AM
I get a lot of requests for the differences between Phoenix area and the Tucson area of Arizona.  Now I've never lived in Phoenix, and it's unfair of me to compare with my own slanted tastes, but I have to admit I'm more of a fan of Tucson!
What is the Difference Between Phoenix and Tucson?
Here's some major differences right off the bat.  I'm just going to hit a few high points in the interests of not having a 10-page blog post!

Size - Phoenix, etc. is a CITY.  Tucson is a sprawling town.  (Really, the "flavor of the … (7 comments)

relocation: I Got Here As Soon As I Could! - 01/29/11 02:26 AM
Contemplating a move for retirement, winter-visiting, or just relocating to a warmer climate? I Got Here As Soon As I Could! In the summer of 2009, AARP Magazine named Tucson Arizona #1 in its top ten best place to live a simple life. Criteria such as low cost of living, geographic diversity, walk-ability, low crime, & outdoor accessibility all played a factor in the selection.   Personally, I think being surrounded by mountain vistas and gorgeous sunsets can't help but to convince any short term visitor into making arrangements for something more permanent!  Add that to 300+ days of sunshine, golf … (8 comments)

relocation: Mother Nature's Christmas Present - 12/19/10 11:03 AM
Mother Nature's Christmas Present
Friday I had to take the road trip to Phoenix - my daughter was going up to visit relatives in Green Bay, WI for about a week. She had one of those early morning flights, so we were up at 4 and hitting the road shortly after.
Upon our return home, this is what greeted my husband and I around 7 a.m. or so:

(Now I'm driving down the road at 75 mph, so it's not a photographic masterpiece, but you can enjoy the colors.)

What a beautiful start to the weekend before Christmas.

relocation: The Inspection Has Gone to the Dogs! - 12/17/10 03:18 AM
The Inspection Has Gone to the Dogs!
I have new clients this month, winter visitors to the fair city of Tucson from New Hampshire.  I received them via referral, as they were in a short sale contract and the referring agent really hasn't worked much with Short Sales and Foreclosed-upon properties.
Upon arriving to Tucson, they went through the property and found it to be "very nice" but since the Arizona Short Sale addendum allows for unilateral cancellation of the contract before receipt of Bank acceptance per line 41, they were going to look at other homes for comparison, just in … (7 comments)

relocation: Christmas Is Coming and The Weather is Fine!!! - 12/10/10 03:55 AM
Christmas is Coming and the Weather is Fine!!!
I am familiar with the Christmas carols - White Christmas, Frosty the Snowman, Jingle Bells, Let It Snow, I'll Be Home for Christmas, Winter Wonderland....
Where did the tradition come from that had us all thinking Snow was synonymous with Christmas??  According to my research, the thought of snow and Christmas could have originated from the Victorians, who helped to give us our roots for "traditional" Christmas today.  In the start of the Victorian era in 1837, Britain was in a mini-ice age.  Other listed contributing factors to "snow for Christmas" are attributed … (8 comments)

Tucson - A Unique Place to Live and Visit
Today I ran across an article on ezine.com about the Top 5 Reasons to Travel to Tucson, and of course, it grabbed my attention. The list went as follows:1.  Climate2.  Natural Beauty3.  Outdoorsman's dream4.  Hotels and resorts are top notch5.  The unique atmosphere.I've written about the top three, more than once in my blog roll.  However, today it's number 5 I'd like to personally expound upon.Tucson really is unique.  Folks who haven't been here often think of flat desert land with the traditional Sahuaro cactus dotting the landscape.  What makes us so interesting … (8 comments)

But It's a Dry Heat.... Tucson, AZ

So I was out last night and the lighting was right and I thought I'd take this photo of my dashboard in my car.

It's June in Tucson, Arizona and the weather is fine.  No really, it is.  It's cooled down to 91 degrees already at 10 p.m.!  And remember, little or no humidity...it's a dry heat.  (currently at 8%)
Seriously, I love Tucson, AZ.  I feel like I'm on permanent vacation.  Palm trees, swimming pools, every day is a sunny day - how can you be depressed - it's a … (11 comments)

Rancho Marana - Buying a New Home in Marana, AZ
Marana is located just northwest of Tucson, AZ and was established in 1881.  The name Marana comes from a Spanish word meaning “jungle” or impassable tangle” and the town was named for its overgrown stretches of dense mesquite thickets.  Marana is known for its agriculture and although Wheat and Cotton are still a major force in the town’s economy, population and new businesses fed by the nearby trains and regional airport have helped the area grow.

If you are planning on buying a new home in Marana, AZ, one of … (2 comments)
