This weekend my husband and I were able to take a little time out for a picnic and a hike, and one of the great things about Catalina State Park is location, location, location.
Located just south of the intersection of Oracle and Tangerine Roads in Oro Valley, Catalina State Park has hiking, biking, birding, picnicking, camping, horseback riding, and just good ole relaxing.

It was a popular place this Sunday, the parking lot was full when we arrived!

Hiking on Linda Vista Trail in Oro Valley, AZ
This weekend my husband and I took an enjoyable hike up into the foothills of the Santa Catalina Mountains, under Pusch Ridge.
I love the views.

Here's a map so you know your way around.

Take plenty of water, a few snacks, and a camera!

Don't forget to watch for venomous creatures like rattle snakes and gila monsters.  We found several of these colorful little lizards, brave enough to pose for camera shots. 
They are common in this area, and are called the Crotaphytus collaris or eastern collared lizard.
