myanmar burma: The First shall be Last & The Last shall be First ... - 04/15/10 07:52 PM

The First shall be Last & The Last shall be First ...
When ever I travel around the world I always come across pictures that help put my life into perspective, like the photo above. I came across a little baby and what looks like his brother sleeping on a mat on the ground when I went for a walk this morning. When I view this type of sadness it helps me to understand how "Lucky" I am to have what I have.

YANGON/ MYANMAR    4-14-2008

I would like to share some experiences when I was on a resent vacation in South East Asia. From April 11th to May 14th 2008. I was on vacation in Myanmar (Burma) where I traveled all through the Country.
When I was in Bagan and Mandalay I visited many, many Temples that date back over 2,000 years. While visiting I noticed hundreds of people meditating and praying, something I don't really see in America.
Being a spiritual person I started to feel the energy and the calmness of the people around the … (2 comments)

myanmar burma: Vegas Bob's opinion on U2 concert 10-23-2009 (please read to help FREE Burma). - 10/24/09 11:20 AM
Vegas Bob's opinion on U2 concert 10-23-2009 (please read to help FREE Burma).
The concert Friday evening was fantastic and the stage, lights, U2 & Black eyed peas were wonderful. Nu Nu usually doesn't like music sang in English because she is from Burma (Myanmar) and she doesn't understand the language very well. On top of that Nu Nu has never heard of the band U2, but when they started singing a tribute to FREE Burma and Aung San Suu Kyi she became very - very excited.

Now if you don't know who Aung San Suu Kyi is click … (14 comments)

myanmar burma: Robert Swetz's Family continues to arrive in the United States - 08/30/09 05:52 PM

I never thought in a million years that my family would have grown as big as it has, but my relations from Myanmar (Burma) continue to come to America. Two people in this these photographs are visiting from Myanmar and I can't even pronounce their names let alone spell them, but I will learn.
People from Myanmar (Burma) are very family orientated people and family is number one. And since I married a sweet young lady from Myanmar, her family has become mine.
They all love and respect their first and only American out of over 250 relatives, I guess you … (13 comments)

If Robert Swetz was to move to South East Asia would you still read and view his posts?
It is possible that some time late winter of 2009 or early spring of 2010 that Nu Nu and I will be traveling and spending some time in Myanmar (Burma) & Thailand.
Our daughter Cherry is growing up in Myanmar with out her mother & father and it's just not fair to her. If you don't know the story about Cherry you can search (Mother hasn't seen her daughter in 5 years).
Nu Nu also needs to take care of some Real Estate transactions … (15 comments)

myanmar burma: Try not to hurry when ever your on Vacation by Vegas Bob - 05/13/09 10:45 AM

When ever I go on vacation some where I always seem to be in a hurry and I wonder why?
Is it because I live in a fast moving city like Las Vegas? Do I hurry because I am afraid I am going to miss some thing? Or because my time is limited and I have to make the most of my time?
One year ago today I was in Myanmar (Burma) looking at scenery like in these photographs. All these photos were taken in Bagan Burma and it is a very interesting place.
I really miss Bagan and many … (8 comments)

myanmar burma: "A Happy & Sad Mother's Day Story" - 05/10/09 04:53 AM
This Mother's Day Story may bring goose bumps to your skin with joy and may also bring a tear of sadness.
It has been a long and winding road through the United States Federal Government for our daughter and her mother.
Nu Nu spoke with our daughter Cherry yesterday and was very excited because she will be stepping on American soil in the next 3-6 months. Cherry also hand wrote a letter in Burmese and emailed it to her mother Nu Nu.
In the conversation over the phone Cherry started to cry and Nu Nu asked "why are you crying?" You … (12 comments)

Nu Nu will be sworn in as a United States Citizen today at 8:00am Pacific time (Please Read)
It had been a long 7 years for Nu Nu since she first came to America from Burma (Myanmar), and we will be celebrating today.
I will be working until early afternoon but as soon as I am finished I will rush home, clean up and take my little Nu Nu out for a wonderful lunch.

myanmar burma: Back to Burma by Vegas Bob - 04/30/09 04:45 PM

Back in Burma by Vegas Bob
One year ago I was is Burma traveling all over taking photographs like the ones in this post. It was my second time there and I really enjoyed spending time with Nu Nu's family.
I was very disappointed because I only met around 80 of her 200 relatives, and it was very difficult to remember their names.

I am hoping that we will be able to visit Burma for the third time this year to pick up Nu Nu's daughter Cherry. Cherry's case seems to be getting closer to the end, "Thank God!"

myanmar burma: Three very different India Statues and please be very - very careful around the first one! - 04/09/09 10:00 AM

I have been told from people in India that this first statue is very, very powerful in their country. This statue is not something you want to play with and or have in your home unless you know it's powers or study this religion.

This statue above is so much nicer and loving, people from India that worship this statue and it's powers do not eat beef.

This last statue above is very interesting and can anyone tell me the story behind this statue or know why there is a Elephant head on a human body?
 All these … (5 comments)

myanmar burma: Ever wonder where some Buddha Statues come from? - 04/01/09 04:24 PM
Ever wonder where some Buddha Statues come from?
Before I traveled to South East Asia I always wondered where I could purchase Buddha Statues. I have a huge collection of them from different parts of the world, from Jade to Marble. When I first started collecting them it was very difficult to find places that sold them. Over the years Buddha Statues have become more popular for collecting, etc.
On my second visit to Myanmar (Burma) I saw many, many Buddha Statues in the temples, etc. But it wasn't until we traveled to Mandalay that I discovered you could purchase very small statues … (4 comments)
