politics: Surviving Social Media During This Contentious Campaign Season - 02/18/16 12:54 PM
When I first read Myrl's post several days ago on the ActiveRain network and then another glance at FaceBook, I couldn't agree more.
I remember many years ago when I would read about the campaign and politics on social networks.
I would find myself getting caught up in all the hearsay.
There are so many lies floating around the social networks, etc. about certain parties running for President, etc.

Please try not to be a victim of all the garbage, try not to let them suck you in emotionally ;o/

Please roll over to Myrl's (ORIGINAL) post and leave a comment as to how you feel about the subject … (12 comments)

ActiveRain Groups (Don't) Control Vegas Bob ... VB leaves BananaTude Group

This is not the first time the BananaTude Group at the ActiveRain network has deleted one of Vegas Bob's posts, and this will be the last.

Back in January of 2008 when Vegas Bob first joined the ActiveRain network, his posts were being deleted by groups like (Newbies at ActiveRain) and now the BananaTude group.
It's all good and now Vegas Bob remembers "Why" he formed 25+ groups at the ActiveRain network.
So Vegas Bob wouldn't have to deal with jealousy, rules and politics connected to ... "Groups" at ActiveRain.

politics: PRESIDENTS DAY - How well do you really know your President??? - 02/16/14 11:41 PM
As everyone knows today is Presidents Day, so I thought I would throw a few questions out there and voice my opinion on Presidents and politics.
I do not have a college degree in politics, social science, etc, so when it comes to Republican parties, Democrats, Left Wings, Right Wings, etc I can't really express my knowledge.
But what I do know is when a President is in office, they have people in congress sitting with them that are: Republicans, Democrats, Left Wings, Right Wings, etc. And I do know that some people don't understand that all decisions made by the United States … (12 comments)

politics: What could "President Obama" possibly do in a second 4 year term he didn't do in the first? - 04/18/12 01:17 AM
Wednesday, April 18, 2012
What could "President Obama" possibly do in a second 4 year term he didn't do in the first?   Well it's starting to look like "President Obama" may be elected another 4 year term ... maybe Robert (Vegas Bob) Swetz should have ran against the President. When ever a new president comes into office and nothing gets done Americans always say that they are fixing all the mistakes the president made before them .... "Please" ...this sounds like an excuse. So back to my question ... What could "President Obama" possibly do in a second 4 … (3 comments)

politics: Thoughts of getting into politics! - 03/05/09 10:34 AM
I have thought more than once about getting into politics and running for a position in a small town, county or city.
I don't really know where to start so I am throwing this blog out to Activerain members asking for help. Does anyone from "The Rain" know how to get involved in politics and run for different positions within a State and congress.
I am not talking about President of the United States, I am thinking more like Mayor or Governor in a small town or city. And if I like it and the people like me, I would move into larger … (15 comments)

politics: What can you do to change what's happening in this country? - 10/10/08 07:40 AM

What can you do to change what's happening in this country?
Does anyone have any ideas about what we can do to better our situation in America besides electing a President that you think is going to save the country.
We need to start thinking with our own brains and not like the brains of these Zombies in the photo above. The Zombies in the photo above only think about eating to survive, what are you thinking about? Are you just siting back and watching the television and listening to some or their words of relief?
 I am not sure … (15 comments)

politics: John McCain vs Barack Obama (who would you pick)? (reposted) - 10/09/08 12:41 PM
I had to throw this post out to the members of AR because of all the nastiness coming from different members, about our election. And I want to hear from the members directly.
    WHO WOULD YOU VOTE FOR?

(Warning)   Please remember, these words I am blogging are not my own but people I have speaking with about the Presidential election.
For the last two weeks now I have been speaking with different individuals about John McCain and Barack Obama. Some people I know and other people are tourists visiting Las Vegas.
Of all the people I have spoken … (22 comments)

politics: Senator Barack Obama's visit to Bagram Afghanistan Part 2 (Your Opinion) - 08/03/08 03:57 AM
Do you know why anyone would want Obama to be Commander-in-chief of The United States of Amercia?
I am not sure, but all I hear is all this fluff about Obama. People need to stop watching the news and dig into the real Obama and find out everything about this man before we even think about electing him for President.
As the years roll on in our United States of America, it seems Politics have become like a Heavy Weight Champion Fight- (FIXED).
Do our votes really count anymore? And if our votes count, is there real, sound proof that " We … (24 comments)

politics: Senator Barack Obama's visit to Bagram Afghanistan (Please read) - 08/02/08 11:37 AM
Hello everyone,
As you know I am not a very political person.
I just wanted to pass along that Senator Obama came to Bagram Afghanistan for about an hour on his visit to 'The War Zone'. I wanted to share with you what happened:
He got off the plane and got into a bullet proof vehicle, got to the area to meet with the Major General (2 Star) who is the commander here at Bagram. As the Soldiers where lined up to shake his hand he blew them off and didn't say a word as he went into the conference room … (31 comments)

politics: DO YOU THINK YOU HAVE PRIVACY ON THE INTERNET/ WEB (THINK AGAIN)! - 07/26/08 06:18 AM
DO YOU THINK YOU HAVE PRIVACY ON THE INTERNET/ WEB?  (THINK AGAIN)!

Some people believe that with their own Log-in name and Password that they have Privacy. Well, (THINK AGAIN)!
MSN (Hot mail), Yahoo-mail, G-mail, etc are just several email web-sites that offer service. But if you look at the terms with the companies in fine print you will see that any and all information is collected and used for different purposes. There is nothing private about email web sites, unless you get a personal email address and how much privacy do you have with this one?

politics: Take Note: I have removed my blog about (Obama) - 07/24/08 06:14 AM
I have removed my post about Obama's birth information etc. I feel I don't really know enough about this situation and do not in any way want to be a part of some scheme to have Obama not be elected for President.

Also, I don't want the Feds and any other group of the United States breathing down my back.
Because I am part of one of these groups in the United States, please forgive me for my post/ blog.

politics: (BEWARE) OF GAS STATIONS & EMISSIONS TEST CENTERS FOR YOUR CAR - 07/20/08 12:27 PM
I am putting this email/ post out to warn people about Terrible Herbst Gas Stations in Las Vegas-Nevada and the surrounding state.
Yesterday, 7-20-2008 I brought my 2002 Toyota Camery into Terrible Herbst gas station #184   8590 West Lake Mead Blvd. Las Vegas-Nevada, 89134
I needed a oil change and emissions test done to get renewal license taps for my car. When I went in I told the lady that I needed a oil change and a emissions test done. She said you have to have the emissions test done first. I asked her why won't you change my oil first because I was already parked … (5 comments)

politics: Why doesn't America kill the gasoline powered cars? - 07/17/08 11:33 AM
Why doesn't America kill the gasoline powered cars?

This is a question that all of us would like answered. And who really has the answer to this question? The news media! (Please) The government! (Please)
I spoke with a client of mine on this subject and here is what he had to say:
80 percent of the cars in Brazil do not run on gasoline and the price of gasoline is around 17 cents per gallon. Why don't we have cars like this in America? What happen to the electric cars that GM put out back in the 1980's? … (11 comments)

politics: CRIME IN AMERICA! SHOULD WE BE CONCERNED? - 07/10/08 05:15 AM
Crime in America!  Should we be concerned?
It used to be easy to avoid committing a federal crime. If you avoided murder, rape, robbery, kidnapping, assault, battery and theft, there were few options left.
But today you might want to consider hiring a small team of researchers if you want to be confident you won't end up in federal prison. And even then you couldn't be sure.
There are at least 4,450 offenses in federal criminal law. That's the number Louisiana State University law professor John S. Baker Jr., and his researchers came up with in a just-published report.
Baker's … (4 comments)

politics: The Story of 'OLD GLORY' for The Fourth of July! - 07/03/08 03:43 AM

"OLD GLORY!"
This famous name was coined by Captain William Driver, a ship-master of Salem, Massachusetts, in 1831. As he was leaving on one of his many voyages aboard the brig CHARLES DOGGETT - and this one would climax with the rescue of the mutineers of the BOUNTY - some friends presented him with a beautiful flag of twenty four stars. As the banner opened to the ocean breeze for the first time, he exclaimed "Old Glory!"

He retired to Nashville in 1837, taking his treasured flag from his sea days with him. By the time the Civil War … (4 comments)

politics: ANOTHER SHOT OF OLD GLORY, Please forgive me for posting another! - 07/02/08 09:50 AM
" Have a Happy Fourth of July and please be safe "
This shot of (OLD GLORY) was shot at The Bellagio Hotel in Las Vegas-Nevada. It was taken in 2006 at the conservatory. The conservatory at The Bellagio Hotel is where the hotel displays themes 4 times per year on the seasons. Spring, they will display one theme, summer another and so forth.
Many tourists make sure to not miss the displays presented at The Bellagio Hotel because the displays are very impressive and are built with hundreds of thousands of flowers. Next visit to Las Vegas, make sure … (3 comments)
