huntsville: Wishing Rick My Condolences - 01/21/08 02:47 AM

I would like to send out my condolences to Rick Burgess with the Rick and Bubba Show. He lost his 2 year old son this weekend. I listen to the radio show on 100.3 FM The River. I am sure some of the AR bloggers have heard of them. I believe they are stationed out of Birmingham, AL.
So if everyone would take a moment and send out a prayer for Rick and his family.
 My Deepest Symphathy,
Kim Wilbourn from Huntsville, AL

huntsville: Today was my first day...? - 01/17/08 11:52 AM

Today was my first day at my part-time job at Thompson Tax Service in Huntsville, AL. I actually enjoyed it! I am the Receptionist so all I do is schedule appointments. I didn't make it in time to take the classes to prepare taxes. I am going to plan on doing that next year from January through April 15.
I don't have to commit myself, and the job is really flexible. I can work whenever I want to, and take off it I need to. This will help bring in extra income for me, and maybe I can meet people that … (4 comments)

huntsville: North Alabama Educational Talent Search(Scottsboro, AL) - 01/09/08 11:59 AM

Congratulations...my child has been selected to participate in the upcoming Educational Talent Search(ETS)!
She wrote a essay on why going to Washington, D.C. could benefit her educationally and culturally, and she was selected from her school(Woodville High) in Jackson County, AL. They chose 30 children from the Jackson County School System, and don't know the exact number from Huntsville, AL.
Of course she will have to do fund-raisers to raise the $500 fee to go which this includes her boarding, meals and all activities she will be doing and it will be for a week. This will be a great opportunity for her … (6 comments)

I would like to send my condolences out to the family and friends of Eric Freeman. He was a police officer in Huntsville, AL who was shot. He left behind a wife, and 5 children. This is a sad situation especially during the holidays.
My heartaches for what the family is going through, and I will keep them in my prayers.
Sincerely,
Kim Wilbourn

huntsville: "Creating a brighter Christmas for less fortunate Children" - 11/18/07 01:32 AM

This time of the year is a great way to give to many families that are less fortunate, and will appreciate it. Last night I went to 12th Annual Margarita Society Ball at the VBCC in Huntsville, AL. The Directors of this event are North Alabama business owners, and the professional community where they organize and sponsor this social event.
The admission to the Margarita Ball is by a Director's invitation and one unwrapped child's gift;ages 5-17. The toys then will be distrubeted to underprivileged children in the community. This was my first time attending and it was a awesome event. Everyone … (7 comments)

huntsville: No Smoking Ban In Alabama - 10/15/07 11:58 AM
There is alot of cities in Alabama that have passed the No Smoking Ban in Restauraunts and Bars. Today on the news I heard that they are trying to pass this law as a Statewide Law for Alabama in February 2008. Alot of people in Alabama are dying due to smoking more than having in other type of cancers. People are not happy with this law, and think that their rights have been taking away from them.  Does any other states have this law and how has it affected the businesses?
