education: Jersey Jumps on CE Train

So I am a bit biased when it comes to real estate topics that interest me. Today's topic concerns continuing education credits. Our neighbors to the east, New Jersey, are very close to requiring continuing education for some in the real estate industry. According to NJAR's website: "On January 7, 2010, the New Jersey Senate approved A-3099/S-2068, which provides for mandatory continuing education (CE) for real estate brokers, broker-salespersons and salespersons. The final passage of this bill in the Legislature represents two years of work by NJAR® and the NJAR® CE Task Force." education: Stop the Grumbling

Is mandated real estate continuing education for licensees a hassle or opportunity? I hear from agents everyday who sit on both sides of this fence. In Pennsylvania, licensees are required to complete a specific number of continuing education credits every two years. (Information on Pennsylvania requirements can be found on the Pennsylvania State Real Estate Commission's website.) The current renewal cycle began June 1, 2008 and will end on May 31, 2010. For standard licensees, the amount of credits required is 14. In reality, that's really only four 3.5 hour courses, two 7 hour courses or one 2 day course. Over the course … (0 comments)
