real estate: What Makes YOU a Better Agent? The Agent Challenge. - 09/01/09 04:53 AM
I am not asking what makes you better than another agent. I am asking, what makes you a better agent from day to day?
Today, I asked myself this question. I am going into my 5th year as a Realtor(R), and I'd like to know that I have evolved into a better agent. Certainly, experience will make one better. But what else?
Education? Without a doubt. I try to take advantage of the many classes our brand offers. Plus, meet the educational requirements for my licensing renewals. In addition, I have taken some specialty classes, and have a few designation classes I want … (1 comments)

real estate: Recession Proof Your Business - 07/06/09 09:11 AM
Don't Forget to check out my listings.  Thanks so much.
Real Estate is a challenging business, especially during the recession, but I believe we will still prosper.
Of course I believe social networking benefits us all, and sharing our listings broadens exposure to our properties. Plus, we raise buyer awareness by sharing our blogs.
I believe we have a lot to offer the FSBO's, now more than ever, because it takes a qualified professional to navigate the many calls we receive from unqualified buyers, (we have the expertise and resources available to help those credit-challenged buyers repair their credit in time); and we weed … (3 comments)

real estate: This Home Meets The "Family" Challenge. - 05/28/09 10:04 AM
Finding a 4 bedroom home with 3 full baths, plus all brick (and what beautiful brick work it is), with a huge rec room, very large laundry room, on a large, mostly level lot in Oak Ridge can be challenging. This home has 4 bedrooms on the main level. That can be a challenge to find anywhere. This home has 2 fireplaces. One in the den, which is off of the kitchen, and this fireplace can either be wood burning or gas logs, it is ready for your choice. The other fp  is in the large rec room, which, by the way … (2 comments)

real estate: Spotlight Tennessee - 05/18/09 09:12 AM
I can only imagine when people are relocating to Tennessee due to job or military decisions, that they may wonder what is special about this southern state. I was born and raised here, and  I know there are many misconceptions about "southerners". Growing up, I was sometimes embarrassed by my southern drawl and ashamed of some of the ideas that others had of Tennessee, many that were spawned by television shows like The Beverly Hillbillies. (Yet I loved that show as a child.)
As I matured, I actually began to appreciate living in East Tennessee, and I recognized what countless others already knew. Tennessee is picturesque with magnificent mountains … (2 comments)

real estate: I See The Silver Lining - 02/13/09 09:00 AM
I began my real estate career in 2005.  I have always been pleased with how my business was doing, until mid to late 2008. Knowing that a few of years in the biz doesn't sound like much, let me say that I did better than I had anticipated, therefore I was happy.
Joining the ranks of many, (I won't go into too much detail,) I started feeling the blues. Even though I know veteran agents felt a decrease in their business, I started mentally beating myself up because my numbers had dropped. Did this help my transactions? Absolutely not. Did I have … (17 comments)
