grand rapid real estate: The More Things Change, The More Things Stay The Same...Is it true for Grand Rapids, MI? - 08/21/07 04:42 AM
Lately, I've been having this saying go through my head and I've struggled with really understanding the meaning of it.  "The more things change, the more things stay the same."  I even did a google search on the meaning of this phrase but the articles that were written on it had nothing to do with that phrase.
I guess I get the jist of it.  My interpretation is that things really don't change.  Maybe I just don't understand this saying at all.  If this is what it means than I would disagree.

grand rapid real estate: Mirror, Mirror on the Wall... Will My House Sell By Fall? - 07/22/07 12:13 PM
My absolute favorite question of the year, "What's Going on In the Michigan Market?"  Good question.  Let me look into my crystal ball and see...
Currently, I see a haze.  Oh wait a minute... I see a home for sale and another home for sale.  Some buyers are out looking at the front of the home and deciding whether or not to come in.  Nope, they are going to try the neighbor's home instead.
You ask the psychic, "Why not my home?  How come these buyers don't want to even come inside?"  "Not sure." Says the psychic.  "It's just one of those … (3 comments)

grand rapid real estate: Real Estate Agency Relationships... Who Do They Represent? - 07/18/07 07:40 AM
I know this topic may bore you or you may say, "Why do I care who an agent represents?"  The truth is that you should care who your agent works for.   Maybe I should begin with the question: What does an agent do for a client?  Some would say we sit around and collect a fat check at the end of the transaction.  A good real estate agent works diligently for the client by finding them the best home to suit their needs, give sound advice and then helps them by holding their hand through the process of buying a home and … (0 comments)

Bailey's Grove in Kentwood is one of the more popular places to live because of the community atmosphere and the design of the community.  Not only has the builder allowed for amenities like a Club house, pool and jogging trails, but they also designed free style site condos (look like homes) and regular condominiums (homes that are connected together).

This condo is located at 3737 Old Elm and is a wonderful end-unit condo in beautiful Bailey's Grove, within walking distance to Club house, pool and jogging trails.  This 2 bedroom possible 3 bedroom is meticulously clean, wonderful floor plan with beautiful towering ceilings and windows.  … (0 comments)

grand rapid real estate: Top 10 Visitor Favorites about Grand Rapids, MI - 07/09/07 03:23 PM
Recently, I came back from a trip and was flying into our local Gerald R. Ford airport.  As I was waiting for my luggage, I spottedthe Grand Rapids 2007 Visitors Guide and decided to take a peak as to what was actually in it.
Of course, there was the guides to the local restaurants, clubs, entertainment arenas.  What caught my attention was the TOP 10 Visitor Favorites.  This list is what supposedly draws visitors to the Grand Rapids Area or what they appreciate most about Grand Rapids.  Here it goes starting with the least favorite to number 1.

grand rapid real estate: Article Title, "Why Can't We Be More Like Grand Rapids?" - 07/09/07 01:11 AM
I've seen lots of bulletin posts and of course comments about the state of affairs in Michigan (most of them negative).  I thought I would share with you what someone outside of Grand Rapids actually thought about our city.

The article in The Patriot Ledger gave Grand Rapids raving reviews.  Can you believe it?  Actually, I can.  If you have lived somewhere besides Michigan you would see some of the things that make Grand Rapids and Michigan in general a great place to live.
Here are some of the points that the article talked about for Grand Rapids.

grand rapid real estate: Rockford Michigan Real Estate is A Great Deal!!! - 06/29/07 08:12 AM
A steal of a deal in the Rockford Michigan Real Estate Market.  Rockford, Michigan boasts of a great community, thriving businesses and a great school district making Rockford, Michigan one of the top places to live.
Rockford real estate has had their fair share of homes on the market and sellers have experienced some tough times trying to sell their home.  Why is that?  Rockford real estate has the same problems as most of the West Michigan community... they have too many homes for sale.
In an area with a fantastic school system, great downtown community area, Rockford, Michigan is still one … (0 comments)

grand rapid real estate: Forsalebyowner.com is it worth the price??? - 06/26/07 02:39 PM
I love the for sale by owner market! In the Grand Rapids, Michigan real estate market and the Michigan real estate market in general, trying to be a for sale by owner takes a lot of guts.  I don't mean this in a bad way.  What I mean is that it is tough enough to sell even when you are represented by a Realtor because there are so many homes for sale in the Grand Rapids marketplace.  As of the end of May, the Grand Rapids Association of Realtors board (GRAR) reported that there were over 15,000 listings from January through May … (8 comments)

grand rapid real estate: K.I.S.S. and Football - 06/26/07 03:48 AM
Recently, I've had a really great reminder of how to conduct business.  K.I.S.S. - stands for Keep It Simple, Stupid.  It's a really great acronym and one that I have to be constantly reminded of.  I have so many things going on in my mind-things to do, people to see, calls to make... In fact, a lot of times I look at all the things to do that I get nothing done!  What a frustrating process especially at the end of the day when you look back and see that you still have ALL these things to do!
I know, I know... … (3 comments)

grand rapid real estate: Myspace.com, Blogs and Too Much Information - 06/25/07 02:02 AM
If you haven't heard of myspace.com, then you need to stop reading this article right now.  Some people hate myspace.com, others love it and most, at least know about it.  For awhile, I steered clear of myspace.com myself.  It wasn't until my daughter started getting into the myspace community, that I thought I better know what this myspace thing is all about.  Ironically, I now have two myspace accounts, one that's for friends and family and another that I use for business.  Myspace.com is the ultimate means of communicating and I've figured out the appeal - people love to be apart … (43 comments)

grand rapid real estate: Parade of Homes - Part II and Real Estate Home Trends - 05/20/07 11:53 PM
On Friday, May 25th, The Parade of Homes officially kicks off.  Sponsored by the Home and Building Association of Greater Grand Rapids, those home buyers wanting some great ideas of house plans should spend the money on this great event.  If you read, my first blog about the Parade of Homes I wrote, "According to Judy Barnes of the Home and Building Association of Greater Grand Rapids, "Homes are priced to sell today.  It's probably as cheap as you'll see those prices... More people can afford homes in this Parade." (GR Press)

grand rapid real estate: Sellers - Here's the Secret!!! - 04/27/07 08:47 AM
It's tough out there.  Especially today when the Grand Rapids, Michigan housing market is considered a Buyer's Market.  If you're not sure exactly what a buyer's market is - it is all about supply and demand.  Currently, there is a lot of supply of homes on the market meaning the buyers have a lot of options to choose from.
When the supply is low, the demand for your house is high and then it becomes a seller's market -  and homes sell like hotcakes!!!

Whether or not you are selling on your own (For Sale By Owner) or with a Realtor, … (0 comments)

grand rapid real estate: Good Properties Are Moving Quickly - Part 2 - 04/27/07 04:41 AM
Some of you may be asking, "With so many homes on the market and it being a buyer's market, how can properties be moving quickly?"  Truth be told, the Michigan housing market does have a lot of homes for sale BUT there are a lot of buyers that are purchasing as well.  It seems to me that when winter finally stopped in April :), buyers came out looking.
I shared that I was working with a couple for the last couple of months.  Even with the influx of homes, we always seemed to come up a day late and a dollar short … (2 comments)
